    First commercial broadcast into space

The linked article is hysterical to me. The compony, Deep Space Communications Network, deliberately aims their transmissions where there are no satellites - but also does not target either specific stars or defined points in space. So, people are paying money to have their message of whatever...

Something I'd Love to See: d20 Modern/Past minis

Miniatures are products.... I vote YES for these prepainted minis as well.

    I have d20 Past

I have some serious doubts about the Minions and Sidekick Feats presented in d20 Past. They both give me the impression of Munchkin Bait. As people get in game experiences with them, I'd like to hear about it.

    D&D 4E Why 4E?

I keep seeing it mentioned that the 4th edition of DnD is going to come out Real Soon Now and muck everything up. Why does anyone think that 4E is going to happen? Has there been a press release about it from WotC?

Traveller d20 Starship construction and combat system

A discussion on d20 Modern classes in T20 can be found at this link (to the Citizens of the Imperium board). I see no reason why you couldn't use them in T20. Gear can be a problem, particularly with weapons since the combat systems have some differences and T20 weapons would be extremely...

Traveller d20 Starship construction and combat system

But it is worth buying T20 for the complete world generation rules, prior history rules, vehicle combat & construction rules, and the starship combat & construction rules (all of which are not in d20F). T20 is pricey (unless you buy it on Amazon, where the lowest current price is $25 and some...

    Tell me about Blue Rose

I'd go back to dice for combat I think, keeps the tension up at that point. The lack of die rolls for social interaction was justified by good roleplaying by the players. If the guys had just wanted to gloss over it, then I would have left it to the dice for the PC - NPC interaction.

    Tell me about Blue Rose

I've read through the Blue Rose book and can only find some nitpicky faults with it - the main two being that the graphic designer who did the back page added a fuzzy effect to the text that makes it look like the ink ran and that I cannot tell what one of the artists last name is because it is...

    Shadowrun d20?

I think I see the crux of the matter, here. OK, I am not an anti-d20 evangelist nor do I believe that the d20 mechanic is suitable for all genres - I believe in using the best possible tool for the job. In games, that may be d20 and it may not - its a situational thing based upon a lot of...

    Tell me about Blue Rose

I know I'm going to get it for saying this.... If DnD is the "action-adventure film" of role-playing games, then Blue Rose would be the "chick flick" of same.

    Tell me about Blue Rose

It wouldn't work, entirely different genres. You're better off using the Book of Erotic Fantasy for a Gorian campaign.

    Shadowrun d20?

I didn't know that my opinion would incite such a reaction from a person of high post count. Now, since I have been jumped on for having an opinion - I'll just go ahead and defend it. All of the following is IMHO, by the way. I am not trying to attack anyone here, I'm just saying what I...

    Shadowrun d20?

If you are referring to me, then you are wrong. Shadowrun and Cyberpunk 2020 are different game approaches to the same genre. Why should one have to be the clone of another? YMMV, you obviously like Shadowrun, more power to ya'. I prefer other approaches.

    Shadowrun d20?

Actually, you've just helped me illustrate my point. A rule mechanic should match the genre that the game system is trying to emulate. IMHO, Shadowrun is flawed from the beginning with the mix of magic and technology (cyberpunk settings are about the technology and how man is affected by it...

    Shadowrun d20?

Wow, now that would be a compounded Gross Conceptual Error if there ever was one.

    Starship combat/Space Exploration

Go for Traveller T20, it covers all of the bases and does not leave out important planet generating rules like d20 Future and d20 Star Wars.

The Terminator and Aliens - Michael Tresca Freebies

OK, I've downloaded the Predator PDF as well. All three are Good Stuff in my opinion. Very well done. After a lunchtime bull session, I am going to run an AVP Dungeon Crawl - that will only bear a vague resemblance to the movie (which disappointed me). The players will be forewarned that this...

The Terminator and Aliens - Michael Tresca Freebies

I just ran into these free PDFs of Terminator: Future Fate and Aliens: Game Over by Michael Tresca while surfing the web. Both are for d20 Modern and both seem really cool. Does anyone have any experience playing with these rules?

    Beneath the Waves

Then don't. I know that must be obvious, but unhappy emotions are still emotions and poetry is the best tool for communicating those emotions. Just because something is unhappy or morose, does not mean it is bad or unwelcome. I liked the piece, myself.

    How about SciFi C&C?

Well, if you like d20 and science fiction then T20 works very well as far as I am concerned. For those who want something rules light, there are plenty of good ones out there - Classic Traveller, Cyberpunk and Cybergeneration, Mekton Zeta, d6 Star Wars (WEG) - are all very good. I have to give a...
