    Unearthed Arcana!

I agree. There is nothing in the Curses article that requires Character Builder support; it's using the disease track format for another purpose. This column is in Dungeon: the publication generally aimed at DMs. So my hope is that we will see rules variants and subsystems aimed at running...

    Essentials Red Box Errata

I just wanted to add that the link works now; I've got the PDF, an adventure for one 1st-level player that supposedly uses the rules in the red box. ETA: The adventure uses the same choose-your-own-adventure format as the character-building adventure in the Player's Guide. No DM needed.

    Essentials/ Red Box confusion

It's already been answered, but one (unfortunate) way of looking at it is that even though the red box is part of the Essentials line of products, it's not using the same updated ruleset that the other Essentials products will be using.

D&D "Red Box" Game Day this Saturday (11th September)

My friend's son has his Eagle Scout Ceremony on Saturday. And he's a D&D player to boot! I mean, where are his priorities? ;)

D&D "Red Box" Game Day this Saturday (11th September)

Somewhere around here it was stated that Premier stores should have Heroes of the Fallen Lands on the 10th. Here's hoping!

Dark Sun Style Themes for Eberron?

This is from a post I made in a similar thread on the general 4e Discussion forum: I get the idea that a Theme is meant to add some crunchy color to your character's background (as opposed to Paragon Paths and Epic destinies, which provide a path to the future); that is how I am going to...

New "Red Box" Starter Set hands-on preview

Shield Finesse is not in the red box: the fighter build used is a slayer. I asked this after GenCon: there was a mul fighter in one of the GenCon games that had Shield Finesse. Shield Finesse means that you do not suffer the check penalty for using a shield. EDIT: Is it me, or are there no...

    Essentials Red Box Errata

...which doesn't work yet. :( The URL (http://DungeonsandDragons.com/codes) currently redirects to the main D&D page (Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game Official Home Page) NOTE: the card has the redemption code necessary to download the adventure, just going to the URL above will not allow...

    Themes in Eberron

Looking at the themes in the Dark Sun Campaign Setting book, I can see some easy translation to Eberron: Athasian Minstrel -- Thuranni/Phiarlan Entertainer Elemental Priest -- Ashbound, Child of Winter Dune Trader -- Dragonmarked House Guildmate (clunky name) Gladiator -- Gladiator (think...

No one at GenCon got a look at Shield Finesse?

I'm still interested in trying a Knight to see how well they do as a defender. I've been scouring the net for mentions of Shield Finesse, and have found nothing. Can no one tell us what Shield Finesse does? I know the "red box" Fighter is a Slayer, but wasn't there some Dark Sun gaming that...

    Updating & Errata

That would be a PITA as things get re-revised as time goes on. Well, the text in the online Compendium should always incorporate the latest errata. So there is that. Other than that, you could place Post-it arrows next to the affected items in your book with a reference to the page number in...

    More Essentials teasers

So all we need is the Shield Finesse ability description, and I can make a decent stab at creating a 1st-level Knight for fooling around with this weekend. Can anyone on the Game Train (they should have named it the "Fun Train", dangit!) help out a friend...?

    More Essentials teasers

Not necessarily -- it could be as simple as: Heroic Effort [Human] Prerequisite: Human Benefit: You gain the heroic effort power.

DM Rewards: Hommlet and Ship Tiles (Soilers)

I am also rewardless, after confirming my address at least twice and being told that I would get the Village of Hommlet during the August mailing. I think I sent Wizards another on-site question about the module a couple of weeks ago, but never received any reply. And I think I'll stop there...

Worlds with Liberal Use of Resurrection?

Someone else mentioned elven society in general, but I went one step farther and thought of the elves and deathless on the isle of Aerenal in Eberron. Not only are elves long-lived, but the Undying Court is, well, undying. They've guided Aereni society for thousands of years -- not just the...

Help I introduced a too powerful NPC

You've already done that by letting the players use the NPC as a mode of transport and support. No big deal, it happens. There are plenty of ways to remove the NPC as a factor without going against his already established personality. 1) He is neutralized in some form or another by the faeries...
