We've always treated it like a death (new character is at the midpoint of the previous level). But if you are being generous, maybe give people the first one free?

For a spell, yes. I wasn't sure if casting from a wand was treated differently. Both are standard actions, so I suppose it is reasonable to include a free attack with either.

Interesting. Does the same apply to armor? I definitely recall having to enchant the spikes separately for armor, at least back in 3.0 - that's why I was wondering if something had changed...

Can you activate a Wand of Shocking Grasp and make a melee touch attack with it in the same round?

The charge does not provoke, but the movment may. Normally, the person you are charging won't get an AoO unless they have reach (since you charge into one of their threatened squares but then stop moving before you leave it).

But don't you save automatically if you get proof that the image is fake? If you prod at a fake wall, your sword will go right though it - therefore you know it is an illusion (incontrovertable proof). Now, how do you intereact with a wall without doing something that proves it to be false...

Since the StarWars stuff isn't "Open", it's going to be tough to find stuff. However, you might be able to find d20 Modern material that converts over. D20 Future, or Darwins World, or d20 Traveller, etc. might have some things that would be worth the effort to convert.

I'm surprised that so few prefer the hobbit approach. It seems to me that gnomes can fill the kender role easily enough - making them less dwarflike in the process. (shrug)

I think that the characters would work out ok so long as they both used the same ruleset. In otherwords, if everyone was using the D&D ruleset, then it should be ok. This would require "translating" the modern folks over (losing class DEF etc.). If everyone keeps their native ruleset though...

In something like M&M, each time you are hit you basically make a damage save vs the damage done. If you fail by a certain amount, then you are wounded. Fail by more and your are knocked out, dead, etc.. Each time you are wounded you take a cumulative penalty to future saves, so eventually you...
