Mage Armor: Armor Bonus or Enchantment Bonus?

I am hoping that the bonus for the Shield spell either remains a cover bonus or becomes an un-named defensive bonus. IMC I have been calling the armor bonus from shields a shield bonus and allowing it to stack with Mage Armor or Bracers of Armor since 3E came out.

    multiclass and max skill rank

It is your character level + 3 except for exclusive skills. For exclusive skills it is the sum of class levels that allow the skill + 3. IMC we house rule it to character level + 3 for all skills.

    Permanent Protection from Arrows

    I'm recalling a ruling from 2nd edition AD&D.

    Permanent Protection from Arrows

Correct, the general rule for Permanency is 500XP per level of the spell. We are paying an extra 500xp to get the Protection from Arrows spell. You should ignore the damage discharge or use the rules for a permanent Invisibility spell and make it a standard action to reactivate, either method...

    Incorporeal attacks

Incorporeal touch attacks do not ignore force effect armors or magic armor with the ghost touch ability. Incorporeal attacks and normal touch attacks are not the same.

    Gaseous = incorporeal?

By the book they are indeed diferent. IMC instead of the +1/20 DR I give the 50% miss chance for magic weapons, touch spells, and range touch spells. Never miss targetable spells and AoE spells work normally.

Drop the sword, or hold in shield hand?

Casters (IMC) tend to use either bucklers or THW. If you give up the shield bonus for the round, a buckler hand is free for casting. Lanyards are good to keep items with you when you drop them, but recovery is a MEA (that can be combined with a move w/ +1 BAB). Lanyards hang on your weapon...

[Q] Can I cast Polymorph Other on myself to gain a permanent duration?

Yes, you can use Polymorph Other for a permanent duration. No, it would not qualify you for the Arcane Archer class. Talk to your DM, together you could come up with a non-elf class that is similar.

Spellbooks & Sorcerers -- any use?

This was not in 2nd edition, it was an optional rule introduced in Unearthed Arcana, the last core expansion for AD&D 1st edition.

    Mirror Image ... most confusing.

Mirror images are immune to area effect damage spells, you have to use targeted spells, such as Magic Missile, to remove them.

    Mirror Image ... most confusing.

In addition, if you don't have blind fighting, you lose your dex bonus when you close your eyes. You had better hope the wizard is not also a rogue or he will sneak attack you.

ready action vs silent still spell

Remember that a psion provokes the same AoO when he uses his powers, no roll required to get it or to use a ready attack against him.

    Magic "xerox" spell?

It would not be for no cost in materials, you must provide all writing materials (paper, ink, pen). What the spell saves you is time.

    Mind Flayers wimpy!?

I prefer to use the MR the Mind Flayer had in both 1st and 2nd edition AD&D, 90%. This is equal to a SR of 29 in 3rd edition. A SR of 25 is equal to a MR of 70% in 1st edition.

Brew Potion above 3rd level spells..

See table 4-3 on page 74 of Tome and Blood.

    Endure negative energy?

What's wrong with it? It protects from level draining (if save is made) and lasts for more than one touch (old version only protected you from one touch).

    Minimum time between prepping spells

All other spell casters a specifically limited to renewing their spells only once per day. Wizards are the only spell casting class that has the 8 hour rest limit applied, I have always allowed wizards to renew their spells after an 8 hour rest. Just be very strick, they are unable to do...

Elven Chain vs. Mithral Shirt... WTF?

Mithral breastplate is a better idea.

    Half-Celestial PCs

They are native because they are born there, all outsiders are native to somewhere, most to an outer or inner plane. You can be raised normally on your native plane.

They are native outsiders, so can be raised.
