    D&D 5E Epic Monsters: Ōphan

Cooooooolness. I look forward to seeing how you handle ideas for Gabriel's trumpet! You could even use some ideas from The Prophecy with Cristopher Walken as Gabriel (Damn, love that movie! Gregory Widen was just wonderful at making movies that went on to become fantasy cult favorites, like...

D&D General WotC Has Owned D&D Longer Than TSR Did

While we're talking about olden times of D&D, I've just got to admit that every time I see Parmander's name I keep thinking it says "Paramander," which is the name of an alternate True Neutral Paladin from a 1st Edition/Unearthed Arcana-era article in Dragon years and years ago. ("A Plethora of...

    D&D 5E Epic Monsters: Ōphan

Yeah, trying to find a definitive list is a hard thing to do. The only consistent ones are usually Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael, with the other 4 being a grab-bag.

    D&D 5E Epic Monsters: Ōphan

Yeah, that would be more accurate. :)

D&D General WotC Has Owned D&D Longer Than TSR Did

I accept it by just considering a lot of their low levels spells to basically be like class abilities, (Animal Friendship, Hunter's Mark, etc.) that come in the form of incantations. And in 5E I can make them more 1E feeling by going Ranger/Hunter up to 8th level, then taking 3 levels of...

D&D General WotC Has Owned D&D Longer Than TSR Did

Several of my gaming friends even say they couldn't ever play 1E again because of the limitations in character customization. I don't go that far; I could still happily play an occasional 1E campaign, but that may just be because I love 1E Rangers so damn much. ;)

Especially 5E, which is essentially Basic + 3E mixed with a heavy dose of 1E sensibilities. Which is why I love it, and my gaming group of old 1E grognards consider it to be the best edition ever.

    D&D 5E Epic Monsters: Ōphan

I have stats buried somewhere for Raphael, Michael, Azreal, Gabriel, Uriel, Sammael, etc. of the 7 archangels that I made up for my old 3E campaign, statted up as advanced Solars, but I'll be damned if I can remember where. Together they formed a "septiny" that was called VHRN. (I went with...

D&D 5E In a (hypothetical) Tales from the Yawning Portal 2, what are the adventures you would want updated for 5E?

I will add another hearty vote for WG4: The Forgotten Temple of Tharizdun, plus S4: The Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth, the adventure that leads into it. With all the attention that Tharizdun gets these days as Greyhawk's resident Lovecraftian Elder God, and with Tsojcanth having so much to do with...

D&D General Need advice: Forgotten Realms novels

The Elaine Cunningham novels are my three favorite 'Realms novels, especially the Arilyn Moonblade/Danilo Thann books: Elfshadow, Elfsong, Silver Shadows. Elfshadow and Elfsong were originally part of the Harpers novel series, but after their success they were spun out into their own series...

WotC WotC Gets A New Logo?

Exactamundo. It even has some lens flare. Also, as someone else had previously pointed out: the name of the company is now apparently to be pronounced WIZARDS! of the coast.

WotC WotC Gets A New Logo?

I see this as the kind of logo that would appear at the beginning of a movie; you can practically already see the animation even in the still version. I don't mind it, and even think it looks kind of cool, although it is an extreme break from all of WotC's traditional logos, it practically...

D&D 5E Full Wraparound Cover Art For Ravenloft

Still don't like the long-haired Strahd. Stephen Fabian's version is how I will always envision him.

D&D 2E Let’s Look At The Old Ravenloft Boxed Set!

I think Timothy would have been much better served if he was portrayed as a kind of New England/Lovecraft Country fishing boat captain who was secretly a monstrous fishman hybrid who captured outsiders who wandered into his grasp, slaughtering and eating some, and sacrificing the rest to his...

When WotC Founder Peter Adkison Wrote To White Wolf Magazine

That's pretty cool. I picked up a copy of The Primal Order about twelve years ago for 10 bucks at Nittany Line Hobby down in State College, in their used book box (where I used to pick up old 1E era issues of Dragon for 50 cents each back in the early '90s.) My brother is reading it right now...

    D&D 5E EN5ider #371 - Fungus Among Us

Many worlds throughout the dark cosmos are marked across their globes with strange circles of standing stones, each slightly different, of indeterminable age, all held in superstitious awe and deep-set hereditary dread by any local inhabitants who see them... and the builders unknown to history...
