D&D 4E What would you want to see in 4e?

Yeah, they look too much like supermodels, now. They need a little fat on them. And glasses. Mmm. Chubby elf bookworms.

D&D 4E What would you want to see in 4e?

You know, there were so many more arguments about what you could do in a round before the grid.

D&D 4E What would you want to see in 4e?

Oh, yeah. Sure. I'd love DND to be my homebrew. But there are a lot of homebrews out there. I might not want it to be somebody elses. The core rules are better for not including alot of stuff. A point based spell system, for instance, would alienate casual players. Spells already have too many...

Would you GM for Kids at GenCon '06?

I'd run. I've been running for 4-8 10-13 year old kids at my library. They've been hella fun, actually. They don't seem to have any problem with killing things, have a little problem roleplaying (though admitedly, I haven't emphasized that), and none have commited crimes in the community, yet.

Yeah! Magic is simple! You just do stuff! With your... frangiwotziz. To the... thing. You know, man. The... thing.

So... wow. Everybody wants 4.0 to be their homebrew.

January to April 2006 Catalog - WOTC

I'd use it, if the systems were good.

Tome of Magic This one sort of interested me, but I probably won't buy it: Tome of Magic introduces three new magic subsystems for the DND game. Any or all of these systems can easilly be inserted into a campaign. Pact magic gives characters the ability to channel lost souls, harnessing their...

January to April 2006 Catalog - WOTC

Close enough to boss so it makes no difference (That's like asking for trouble, isn't it). Besides, I'm doing my job. No environment books. Adventures: The Red Hand of Doom "The First Coe DND adventure published in years." 128 pp. $24.95 MSRP. Voyage of the Golden Dragon "Follows the...

January to April 2006 Catalog - WOTC

Don't have a scanner. And I'm working. I'll try to type in specific entries if people ask. I am a reference librarian after all.

January to April 2006 Catalog - WOTC

I walked out of the office to get to the desk, and lo the liberry elfs had dropped a copy of the aformentioned catalog on top of a little pile of publisher catalogs. Never seen one of these before, and never seem to see scoops based on them. I'm a little giddy that I might have a SCOOP! Please...

Should I bother with new races in my Homebrew???

Nyuh. Um. I just started a homebrew myself, in a similar situation where I hadn't run a homebrew for years, and I find the following two things: 1) If you don't want to tell stories about the standard ADND races and their relationships, you should make up different races and superimpose...

Terry Pratchett doesn't like JK Rowling

The author of the Time article was fatuous and rather nasty. Come on, Lewis a Death Eater? It doesn't matter how churchy he is (and I'm fairly un-churchy myself), I think he took an interesting and proactive stance both in how he wrote about people, and belief, and in how he thought about the...

Thoughts On The Challenge Rating System

A CR 20 isn't meant to be equal to a 20th level fighter. It's meant to be equal to a 20th level party: 4 20th level characters. That would give a Tarrasque a 75% chance of kicking your average tank's butt, I would guess.

Thoughts On The Challenge Rating System

Forgive me if I have this wrong, but it sounds like you're assuming every party of four level characters should only be facing EL 4 encounters. Some encounters should be lower level, some higher (especially climactic encounters), to provide a sense of danger. The DMG even provides a ratio of...

    Dmg II

How about this: No one would ever confuse the Wizard of Oz with Lord of the Rings, or the Chronicles of Narnia, or Harry Potter, or Chine Mieville, or Clive Barker. They're all fantasy. The DND Genre uses a pallet of monsters, some not available anywhere else, many derived from early 20th...

Batman Begins sequels to feature the Joker

What 1989 were you living in? I liked it. I like 2, also. They were fun. They quickly got stupid after that. I don't mind a reboot, though. After all, it's only a movie. How about Matt Frewer as the Joker?

    Kalamazoo, MI area gamers

Hi! I’m a New York City transplant, having a heck of a time finding gamers in the Kalamazoo area. I have a place in central Portage, and am looking to host a weekly game. I’m thinking Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday, 7-11 PM. Sunday would be my preferred. I am hoping to run a DND campaign...
