Mabye you should try telling them that "they are not famous/powerful enough for this massive undertaking. They could be however if they found X or killed X. That would lead into a great quest and give you more time to figure this out. Kudos -Sporemine

This looks pretty good. Things like this tend to take a fair bit of work so you might want to just reskin what already exists (skeletons as robots, hnd crossbow as a handgun etc. 4e Tends to take well to reskinning). Kudos -Sporemine

Interesting idea but I think it will unbalance combat too much. You might want to try these rules for "elite minions", minions that are worth 1/2 the exp or a normal monster, opposed to a normal minion that's worth 1/4. Kudos -Sporemine
