    Orange Box

    The cake is a lie! The cake is a lie! The cake is a lie! The cake is <unintelligible scrawl followed by blood> I dunno about anyone else, but the AI's song with the final credits was possibly one of the funniest things ever.

    [September] What are you playing?

    Medieval 2: Kingdoms currently, gonna start on Bioshock soon, and, as always, Day of Defeat: Source.

    WIP (so what isn't?)

    I've experimented quite a bit with that myself. I ended up deciding that the 'lots of little mountains drawn in' style was more fulfilling, though. I'll see if I can scrounge up one of my Layer Styles Insanity maps later today.

    D&D 4E Will the 4E books be "square" like Star Wars Saga?

    I want my books in mobius-strip form, to be stored in a klein-bottle. That way, they don't need double-sided printing.

    Magic and Democracy

    If those 17-20 people are legislators, or influential community leaders, though, you're effectively charming a lot more people.

    More pure speculation- "The math is different"

    I'm still waiting for the D-1, or Mobius-die.

    Replacing a lost arm

    I'm somehow imagining a Lesser Reincarnation spell. It would reincarnate only one body part. What body part? What race/species? Roll on the table. If you rolled all 20s, you'd get a whole dire-lion as your arm.

    My (Very) Mini Rant

    And that would be different from a regular university...how? Between Limewire and Captain Morgan, I don't think there's much room for more piraticality. In all seriousness, though, Mark Twain had it right;

    kettle grill: more flavorful fuels than charcoal?

    When I do steaks, I'll throw a bunch of unlit briquettes onto the hot ones shortly before putting the grill on. Basically, it makes a bunch of smoke; the smoke gives the meat a smoky flavor. This only works, of course, when you're using the slow-light kind of briquettes; the ones that are...

    I Googled D&D in Images...

    The little island I live on has D&D Electric.

    Do you haze n00b's in initiation to your group?

    Nah. Generally, I don't have a huge number of players, so it's not hazing that's needed so much as encouragement, since I usually want to keep new players more than I need to weed out the undedicated.

    Coolest Encounters you can remember...

    Piratical True20 game. PCs were pirates/privateers doing a job for the governor of Trinidad. Long story short, the port was under siege by voodoo-style zombies when we arrived back. My character, the group's captain, organized a tactical withdrawal. The governor's soldiers peppered the zombie...

    Such a loooong way from Cairo, when going abroad.

    Int = IQ?

    One problem I should note is that IQ is adjusted by age; an average three-year-old therefore has a 100 IQ, even though they're sure not as smart as a twenty-year-old with even a 90 IQ.

    Forcing rules to accomodate character concepts

    Beowulf wouldn't work because D&D doesn't have rules for tearing off limbs.

    Ahhhhhh, stop typing that!

    1337 = LEET, pronounced either like it's spelled, or 'EL-EET' (i.e. 'Elite'). Basically, some numbers and punctuations can be used to look like letters, and, as such, they're used to say things and look k3\/\/1 (kewl -> cool). This is Leetspeak. Pwned/Pwnd: came from the common problem of...

    Min. Longitude polar to equator

    I just checked a bit more exactly; the actual distance from equator to arctic circle is... 4,583.2 miles, +/- a quarter mile or so.

    The start of a new campaign map

    The coastlines were drawn in, and then the resulting shapes were filled in with color (yellowy-tan in this case), and then I drew the rivers on another layer. The lack of definite shading in/around the lakes/inland seas is my next task, once I revise the course of a few rivers. After that will...

    The start of a new campaign map

    That's the general intention; same layout, different specifics. I did the shading by using inner glow and outer glow on the land layer, and setting the mode to 'darken.' I did the overall texture by taking a really freakin' big scan of actual parchment on some random site (it was a 7-meg jpeg)...

    The start of a new campaign map

    This is the result of Way Too Much Photoshop. If people want, I can go into detail about how I made it, but suffice to say that it's the result of lots of layers, lots of layer styles, and having a big-assed wacom tablet. EDIT: this is a work-in-progress. I'm gonna draw in a crapload of little...
