    Suggestions for a templated roper

Half-dragon swarm. With a few levels of bard for good measure.

A sport fencer's view of D&D (Iron Heroes) feats

Yes, your'e right in one sense -- parries in epee (and even in foil and sabre) often incorporate an attack. Because we're trying to keep the point on target even as we're deflecting the threat. :) But an action on the arm instead of the blade is still considered, formally, an attack. Now it...

    I love you, Hong.

A sport fencer's view of D&D (Iron Heroes) feats

 Sport fencing not part of the "real world." Your perspective is ... intriguing. Care to elaborate? Your certainty suggests insight into the basis for sport fencing, perhaps the period it was derived from. Court swords, maybe?

I just appreciate that someone found this interesting in the least. Thank you for the comments.

    Why Bodybuilding is bad

The hot chainmail-clad elf gamer chicks love muscle-toned GMs. ;)

A sport fencer's view of D&D (Iron Heroes) feats

:) Indeed. But an epee doesn't require much "str" to make a successful "attack roll." That was one of the issues on which the RPG and real life diverge that's inherent in my fun li'l translation/analysis.

A sport fencer's view of D&D (Iron Heroes) feats

Although I’m mostly inactive in playing D&D with others lately, I do still get a lot of entertainment and satisfaction from reading the books and crafting characters. One of my favorite pasttimes -- or rather, a second-tier pasttime -- is interpreting game system mechanics to real sport fencing...

    Favorite PHB Iconic

I really think Devis hurt his popularity after doing that photo spread in Sex Adventurer magazine. A very risky move that didn't pay off like he'd hoped.

A cross-over concept: Realms pantheon as basis for WW's new Scion setting

Picked up White Wolf's latest hardbook product, "Scion," to peruse briefly that other day. Another sorta iffy concept of powers-brought-to-human-level that *could* be fun. The biggest problem (as I see it) is that the gods in the pantheons provided (Greek, Norse, Egyptian, etc.) are almost too...

Interview with Scott Rouse, Chris Perkins & Bill Slavicsek

Tangent, which probably will be passed by fairly quickly on this thread: In the front-page interview, the question was asked, "What is the likelihood of seeing new online material being compiled in hardcopy format - perhaps an annual magazine, book or compendium?" Bill answered, "Sounds like...

Is Eberron a dead world yet?

Oh, you know, silly: The way people post comments apropos of nothing, predicting the end of Eberron. Every time it happens, it gives me a brief impression. Heck, just rereading my own message now has me worried about Eberron. <-- And this preceding sentence has compounded my anxieties. The...

    Not-so-adventurous character types?

As far as I'm concerned, being involved with the rest of the group is incredibly simple -- you TALK. Ask questions, offer advice, make observations, give feedback. As for the rest, it depends on how self-sufficient the player is and what his/her peers expect. For example, I could be quite...

    Not-so-adventurous character types?

re "(E)xperts can be adventures even though it realizes most will stay in whatever town or city they live in and do their own thing. But players are usually adventures and this opens experts up to be used by players characters. They are not going to be as strong as the traditional player...

    3 Years of Unearthed Arcana

Our old house has a badly sloping floor fault near one of the bedroom walls. Unearthed Arcana is just the right size to keep the dresser level.

Demonomicon - after the big 14?

Wow. I would have expected Ubothar to get more votes than that. Intriguing. Any ideas on why more people aren't interested?

    Fishers find CR10 Squid!

On a slightly more serious tangent: It makes one wonder what's going on in the environment that the squid should be making its presence known at all.
