    Complete Campaigns

God, how I envy you D&D players with your choice of off-the-shelf campaigns that'd last more than a year. I can't even get a Traveller campaign that's good for a couple of months. * looks envious *

T20 Traveller - The Kursis Charter (complete Aug 8th 2005)

Act VII: The Pay Off - Fitting Out Date: 227-993 to 258-993 Imperial. Location: 069-526 System (0721). They reached the shipyard at Fonnein Orbital about eleven days late, mostly thanks to the runaround and delays at Kerin’s Tyr, and missed their booking. “I guess we shouldn’t have traded at...

What is your current character's core class?

I'm playing a librarian with some psionic and magical skills and a spear in a GURPS fantasy game, a Merchant in a T20 Traveller PBEM, an ethically challenged mechanic in a Classic Traveller game, and soon I'm playing assorted Maziani in a StarCluster troupe PBIRC in Chris Cherryh's...

Sagiro's Story Hour Returns (new thread started on 5/18/08)

The milk has obviously gone to your head.

What Movie Has Inspired the Most PC's in Your Game?

For me as a player, it's "The Third Man", which happens to be my favourite film. I'm digging a secret cave in a nearby golf course to avoid all the Serenity inspired PCs I expect to see from October.

    If you could revise Rolemaster?

Yeah, spot on. ICE need to live in the real world on this one.

Who is interested in playing a 100th level adventure anyway.

Let Sepulchrave loose on it. Or play Nobilis.

Minis and Grids, do you use them?

I've never found much need for them in Traveller, where most of the combat is with guns. Drawing dots on a sketch map works fine.

    Why PDF vs .doc?

Sort of. Normally it prints on part of the paper, and makes the margins bigger at the top/bottom or sides. You normally get a slightly expanded or shrunk version of the original content and odd margins, which is mostly harmless. Something like RTF or HTML would reflow the text to fit the new...

    Thieves' World d20

This reminds me of a lot of people using a gritty/deadly system to try and recreate another series that's low-life but not deadly (because the major/PC characters have script immunity from real harm) -- those who try to use Traveller to play Firefly. I've seen it, and it ain't pretty. They...

Have you been disillusioned by Eberron?

I was perhaps a little disillusioned when it came out, because it seemed to be the same old same old. They already had FR and Greyhawk which are pretty near identical, and then along came a third vanilla setting. I would have like it to be different in the way that Planescape or Birthright or...

    Why PDF vs .doc?

Just as a rider... Some of us who use electronic documents to e.g. paste bits together from various places, organise, and print them really don't like this. So think carefully about that if you get into publishing. [Also, when one copies from PDFs it usually inserts hard line breaks and loses...

    Clerics with no gods

If I were to play D&D, I wouldn't mind playing a cleric "because the party needs a cleric", but I don't really want to play a religious character. So I guess I'd prefer the "no deity" idea. I'd be pretty underwhelmed if I offered to play cleric as a favour to the group, and then some...

settings, support and your buying dollar!

What I want is published adventures that I can use with a minimum of effort. Conversion takes effort. So more adventures in less settings would be my ideal. Putting them all within 50 miles of the same city, or 10 parsecs of the same star system, or whatever would be even better. Then linking...

    Campaign in a Box

You could have a look at Lazybones' Story Hour You too, huh?

GMs, why are *you* doing the GMing in your group?

I GM as a quid pro quo. I don't like GMing sessions as much as playing, and I don't like GM prep at all, but if I GM for the people I play with some of the time then they'll GM for me the rest of it. It beats no gaming at all.

GMs, why are *you* doing the GMing in your group?

Some people like GMing, and do it for fun. Others do it because it needs doing -- either it's their turn, or nobody else is prepared to, or because nobody else can do it satisfactorily, or there just wouldn't be a game if they weren't GMing one. Which are you?

    Dragon 334, Malhavoc's Surprise = Ptolus

640 pages sounds like a pair of 320 page hardbacks. Does the article happen to mention anthing like that? If so, does it mention what the split is? Overground + underground, gazetteer + everything else, setting + level 1-20 campaign, pink toothbrush + blue toothbrush?

    Things other than rulebooks

The toolset bundled with Neverwinter Nights is about halfway there. Something along those lines could do it. But I can't imagine anyone in the RPG "industry" commissioning bigtime software on this level. It would take Hasbro rather than WOTC.
