This would be forked from the 'Toughness Feat Alternatives' thread, if I'd only found the right button.
That is something I had never thought about. I guess it makes sense from a balancing POV, but in terms of game design in general, I find the idea just horrible.
Tell me if I am missing...
I believe that as a monk, you need to make choices and stick by them. For me, I went for DEX/WIS, dropping STR/CON. From level 1, my monk had the highest AC in the group and the best saves, but the fewest HP and a low damage output. At level 10 with some levels of PsiFist PrC (an important...
I never warmed up to the "living construct" business. Right, it's a droid, I get it, but come on, can't you leave those out of a fantasy setting? I like Planescape and steampunk in general well enough, but this simply goes beyond what I can live with in fantasy. I'm normally not the kind of DM...
You're arguing from a standpoint of game mechanics. I'm talking about verisimilitude. After all, psionics is about the powers of the mind, is it not? And if it has a mind, it's no construct. Just my own opinion, is all.
Thank the powers I'm back in black. And for the record, most of the sites I frequent are done in a black colour scheme: metalstorm, gamebanshee, ultimate guitar, you name it. You know, all kvlt and tr00, but also easier on the eyes, I think.
That doesn't help that much, unless the psion in question happens to be a construct itself: As I read it, Share Power means the psi-crystal is subject to the same effects of a power as its master. It doesn't get to choose a different form to morph into. Hence, if its master can't change his type...
Don't even get me started on those. Warforged (living construct), goliaths (powerful build), and their ilk really show that R&D wasn't cool with the IMO very brave size/type system they'd set up and had to shoehorn races into it in order to create "cool"/exotic character concepts (which...
I highly doubt it, as the Share Power description in the psion write-up specifies that
You cannot morph into constructs (cf. metamorphosis power description). Now, it doesn't say whether you can morph from constructs, but I'd certainly disallow it.
I'd call it common courtesy not to badmouth anything that you know a lot of people enjoy.
But since they're basically slamming their own work or that of former colleagues, they seem to think that courtesy isn't called for.
Kind of ties in with loudly complaining about how ridiculously broken...
I'm going with the AD&D material myself. The geography is slightly different, but I like the subtle differences between maps because back in the day real world maps weren't 100% accurate either.
Well, thanks for the info. I think I can bury that thought for good now.
I think it can be used whenever you suddenly draw and attack. The only problem I see is that samurai code-of-conduct probably prevents any "honourable" character from doing so outside of an actual duel. If your character doesn't abide by any moral code, you should be fine.
All the Githzerai's PLAs are 3/day, except for plane shift, which is once a day, and only available at Level 11+.
If you want to play the Gith without the level adjustment, take a look at the racial classes in Complete Psionic.
I am currently playing a nerfed (LA +0) Gith Monk, but I am going...
I'll see if I can find a preview, thanks!. However, since I was referring to the 3rd ed. FRCS, there should be a 3.x equivalent to the FR atlas as well.
I was looking at the Dalelands map on pg. 117 FRCS and realized it is much more detailed than the corresponding section from the fold-out. Is there a complete map of the Realms that has this kind of detail?
I know all of this has been discussed a million times, but I'd like some informed opinions on the following: how do you counter the nasty "take-five-foot-step-then-cast" strategy? I also know that this point is moot after level 5 or so, when defensive casting nearly always succeeds, but I'd like...
I thought the Shadowrun logo tag thingy would suffice, but maybe it's not displayed if you have all scripts turned off (does work for me though). Anyway, thanks for the heads-up!
In a wacky case of life imitating art, I’m about to write a treatise on this, which will mimic my character’s initiation thesis.
Currently I’m in the research phase, and the books (4th Ed., 20th Anniversary, and Street Magic) leave so much ambiguity, I’m curious as to how you guys handle the...
