Northern California Game Day (Any DMs out there?)

Because of sheer time constraints (working, running a game, being married, and working at the various Renaissance Faires) I'll be unable to commit to gaming. But I just wanted to chime in as a gamer from San Jose! :)

    I need to Rant-3.5 Art

Well, first off, go to the online Wal-Mart store and get the books for less than $18 each! With tax and shipping, the total is about $60. :D Second, I'm with you on not liking the original art all that much.--I totally ignore the rapier image in the equipment section. And would love to have...

    Kinds of whips

I'm at work so I don't have my books handy. But I need to know the different kinds of whips available from the splat books and what their abilities are. Also, if one has the Exotic Weapon Prof. for Whip, does that apply to the others? tanks!

    Military service

Yes, that's what the last choice meant. I could have worded that much better considering the question.

Have you served, or are you currently serving in the U.S. Military?

    Mongrelmen in 3E

Thanks! :D:D BTW, because of y'all, I'm sold on the Tome of Horrors and will be checking it out :)

    Mongrelmen in 3E

Fiend Folio or Tome of Horror What it's looking like is that I either come up with my own conversion, or buy a whole 'nother monster book for the mongrelman stats. I like the classic AD&D monsters and am always searching to find more of them. Which will have the most? Fiend Folio or Tome of...

    Mongrelmen in 3E

Are there any 3E resources (like monster books) that have mongrelmen in them? If not, is there a conversion somewhere? tanks,

    Hirelings and XP?

You can hire as many as you can afford. Hirelings are mainly mundane though, like laborer, teamster, torchbearer, blacksmith, etc. The only fighting Hireling is the Warrior. Cohorts and followers can be of a much larger varriety of classes.

    Hirelings and XP?

Nice way to look at it :) I wish the DMG had been more clear. Thanks!

    Hirelings and XP?

Thanks! I think this has helped me quite a bit! As a D&D player, it's hard to not think in a hero sort of way. So I automatically think of any NPC as a potential hero. That is not the case and what differentiates PC's and heroic NPC's from the common folk. A 1st level Warrior Hireling is...

    Hirelings and XP?

Ah...that's the point. It actually lists Mercenaries (2sp/day BTW :)) under hirelings. What do you hire mercenaries for besides fighting? I guess it boils down this this. What is the difference between a 1st level warrior who's a Cohort and one that's a Hireling?? That's where my delima has...

    Hirelings and XP?

Well, if those warriors actually partake in the battle, then I'd say yes. If they stood back as reserves, and were never called into action, then no. But isn't this an extreme example? How about 3 3th level characters hiring a guard for their wagon. And during the night, the party is...

    Hirelings and XP?

That is what I'm wanting to do. I was just confused when it mentioned warriors under hirelings, which do not get XP by the rules.

    Hirelings and XP?

In the DMG, is states that hirelings are not considered in the division of XP and treasure. How does that work for mercenary hirelings who actually fight in combat?? How would they ever level? I'm confused by this.

    'Origin' of Your User Name

Origins of Dristram Dristram was my first ever 3E charcter, a Fighter/Rogue. He had three fighting styles. Either two short swords, spiked shield and short sword, or simply the short bow. I came up with the name Dristram from Tristram, one of King Arthur's knights. And I chose Tristram...

    Tolkien / Humanist Elves?

Elves in my KoK campaign I run a KoK campaign. In it, the High elves are more human in nature. Although still consider themselves above the short-lived humans. The Gray and Wood elves are more like Tolkien's elves. So I have both :) To be more specific, the Gray elves act more like the...

    Best Campaign Setting????

Ah, I see :) I was beginning to wonder if the SL one was of the thickness of the 1e DM screen. Now that one was sturdy! Personally, although I'm happy with the sturdiness of the KoK screen, it is not as sturdy as I had expected. I was thinking it would be more like the 1e AD&D one.
