    Wizard Spells

Just went through the Wizard's Handbook (online guide to 4e Wizards... and I'm a bit lost on some of the spell choices they make as well as the benefits of spells with save versus. Its my first 4e character. Why recommend the at-will Thunderwave ? Its close blast... so you have to be close to...

    D&D 4E Everyone's a swordsage; Thoughts on 4E after my first read-through.

So true. I fondly remember an Earthdawn campaign... I basically winged the whole thing. I even made up a monster race with 3 different castes. Player's went wild and loved it. When one of them asked to see the monster stats, which I naturally didn't have, I said it was secret ... hehe

Am I missing something? Spellcasters and armor?

Due to high INT counting to AC when wearing light armor its not worth getting heavy armor. Unless you have mages with hight STR. I'm considering using only 1 feat... leather armor. Its basically +2 AC for 1 Feat. My gaming group says its silly... that Wizards rarely get hit at all... but...

    D&D 4E Piracy and 4e

I have never bought a D&D book without checking out a pirate copy first. That has saved me a load of pain and waste of money. Also all the books I did buy I still keep the Pirate PDF copy for easy consulting, especially outside my home. Yet I still bought a load of 3.5 edition books. When we...

PLayer's pre-opinions more important than quality of system

Just a quick comment. 2nd Edition needed overhauling BADLY.. very BADLY. So 3.0 had a warmer welcome lets say. It was solidly built and brough D&D back to life. Now 4th edition... is a bit early ? 3.5 isn't asking to die yet. So I'm still prone to bitching about 4th edition... I'll beleive it...

Directed Bull Rush from Shock Trooper

Nice analogy... if I get a good result I might make a half circle almost... back and right... back and right...

Directed Bull Rush from Shock Trooper

Charging and then moving diagonally after hitting would seem strange though...

Directed Bull Rush from Shock Trooper

One of 3 moves from the Tactical Feat "Shock Trooper": (Complete Warrior p. 112) Directed Bull Rush: Bull rush with charge... and "for every square you push your foe back, you may also push that foe one square to the left or right." That seems easy enough to handle if you push him only 1-2...

Gary Gygax has passed. RIP beloved father of RPG's. (merged)

I haven't posted here in ages... but I felt I needed to give my condolences to the family and to the hobby itself. One of the creators of D&D died... very sad

Weapon Augment Crystals are wrong and dirty

These crystals are way too good and cheap. They replicate some costly feats for dirt cheap prices... Quick draw is one of them. The vampiric stone is so abusive. Just have a new one to swap once the current stone hits the 30 or 50hp limit. The vampiric sword ability cost +2 enhancement and is...

    MIC - Healing Belt errata?

There has always been a major effort in D&D to avoid "Heal X a day" items... so this belt seems cheap actually. Potion wise its cheap for sure in the medium term. There is the "Helm of Glorious Recovery"... swift action 4d8+7 healing once a day... wow... for 5600 gp. Its expensive... but...

Why are Favoured Souls so Popular?

Threads like this are why I love EN World... I quickly skimmed the Favored Soul and never looked back... it seems quite boring as is... yet this thread does show it has potential. It certainly is a easy to take along healer NPC for DMs. What spells are a must have with the Favored Soul ? I...

    Does this look alright?

Actually when a Paladin in our group got grappled and with a puzzled look said he had no light weapons EVERYONE in the group said "ALWAYS TAKE A DAGGER !" Its also a good last desperate resource "missile" weapon. I've killed a hag with my trusty belt dagger just as she was about to make an...

Vow of Poverty PCs... stories please

Moon Lancer... I'm very interested on how you made the best use of VoP with the Druid class. Could you send me your character build ? Or post it here ? Email -> lebe666@yahoo.com I guess you built your Druid more towards combat than spellcasting... because I think Druids can be made into...

Help Twinking Out a 12th Level Monk

I gave up on getting Touch of Golden Ice due to the sheer amount of rolls the DM would have to do... and the fact that in higher levels... 12+ the save is very easily done. So its about rolling 1's. ------- Using a stunning fist and having a feat slot tied up for a measly +2d6 damage against...

Vow of Poverty PCs... stories please

Isn't that "using" the item in a way ? The item is his to use... and he choses to destroy it.

Help Twinking Out a 12th Level Monk

Matt, Axiomatic Strike ? I think its pretty weak. Check out the PHB II to see if they have anything interesting. Also since you will get a stupid amount of exalted feats... might I recomend looking at the Stigmata. Its a good emergency feat... when your cleric is either in bad shape or unable...

Powers that stop scars from happening ?

Thanks for the replies... it was more about thinking out game concepts and locating shapechangers than specifically rules about it.
