    On The Horrible Naming

What will Golden Wyvern Adept be in the SRD? Adept? Golden adept? Wyvern adept? Wizard adept? Sure there has always been some flavor in the PHB, and you pointed out some examples of bad flavor. I for one like the name Robilar's Gambit, it's not too flashy. But I'm sure there are people who...

    On The Horrible Naming

Robilar's Gambit: a Gambit. As in sacrifice something to get an advantage, lvl 12 feat Black Lore of Moil: never heard of it. Or maybe I did but I don't remember what it does. Mordenkainen's Disjunction: 9th lvl spell, don't care. Never used it, never will, destroys magic items Eagle Claw...

New Design & Development: Paladin Smites!

A 3.5 paladin could cast cure moderate wounds, which would heal 2d8+6 i.e. ~15hp. 10+wisdom isn't bad as an added effect to hitting your foe for double damage. And it's not like the paladin is the primary healer. Safeguard smite looks more powerful, but I think the deal is "it's better to...

New Design & Development: Paladin Smites!

 LOL  I'm not sure I get this. Damage for all strikes is 2x[W]+Ability mod. I don't know how fast ability modifiers scale in 4e, but in 3e there wouldn't be a lot of damage difference between a 1st and a 27th lvl pally. Except if "base weapon damage" includes a level dependent...

Do you like the name "Rob Heinsoo"?

Why? Just change the name for your copy of the PHB. I have renamed ALL the designers in ALL of my 3.5 books to better fit my homebrew.

D&D 4E Concerned with 4e now, do you agree or not?

Vancian magic is a game mechanic just like 4e different wizard types are a game mechanic. It could also limit the play style of D&D, though I'm sincerely hoping it won't. My gripe is mostly with the name.

D&D 4E Concerned with 4e now, do you agree or not?

Ok, snark off. From what I know of Tenser, Bigby and Mordenkainen, they were powerful mages of old, and they created said spells. I've even seen some magical locations and quests in some WotC products that were related to Bigby IIRC. I could of course be wrong since I don't read that much...

D&D 4E Concerned with 4e now, do you agree or not?

You mean, assuming that golden wyverns are part of the setting?

Races & Classes details from the WotC boards

That's a great design idea. It's like Heroic: "I'm just your everyday common human, nothing to see here" Paragon: "Ok, who said that? If the one that called me a freak doesn't step up, the whole village gets it" Epic: "Obey your new Tiefling overlords! We are powerful and cool and we have...

D&D 4E Concerned with 4e now, do you agree or not?

I don't think that a vancian inspired magic system can compare to "Golden Wyvern". 1. I can see how by opting to play a wizard you have to choose from several different types of wizards, each one having an emphasis on different spells/powers. I think that's great. 2. I can see how wizards...

D&D 4E The math behind power attack and why it needs to be redone in 4e

I agree. If you *always* want a bit more damage per hit get weapon spec. If you want to go wild when you run across a gelatinous cube, or your monk buddy successfully trips a zombie, get power attack.

D&D 4E Concerned with 4e now, do you agree or not?

Actually, I kinda like these two. And I'll probably have storms, sun and shadows in my campaign so no problem there :)

Do you like the name "Golden Wyvern Adept"?

What if that turns out to be: "I cast 'Golden Wyvern flamedance', targeted here. I leave Joe out of the blast radius."?

    New Design & Development: Feats

I'm not worried that there will be stuff in the corebook that won't fit in everybodys homebrew, people like to change core a bit if only to give their setting a more original feel. What I'm worried about is the general look & feel of D&D. This includes art, races, classes, deities and names...

    New Design & Development: Feats

And I implied that renaming an odd PrC or spell now and then isn't quite the same as renaming a core class or feat. Dude, I'm not getting that common sense you mentioned. How does a published setting, which is usually more fluff heavy, help me if I don't like the names WotC comes up with?

    New Design & Development: Feats

You know what Debbie? You're right! And I think Guild Bubblepants also has a point. In fact since you two are obviously more experienced could you give me some help with my current 3,5 build? I'm playing a lvl 5 westfolk Kingdom Rebel, my feats so far are Unseen Warrior and Blade Parry. What do...

    Dragonborn/Tiefling- which campaign setting?

I have an idea of a standard fantasy setting, and I've had it even before I started playing D&D. It doesn't involve Tieflings and Dragonborn living amongst humans, dwarves and elves. Mostly because they look scary and outworldish and well, monstrous. I'm just racist that way. Now if they were a...

    Dragonborn/Tiefling- which campaign setting?

Dragonborn and Tieflings will fit in every setting in which the average mom lets her kids play with the kid next door that has horns and a tail. And the other one, the one with the lizard head and big teeth. And claws. Because having to convince the villagers you're not a monster is fun. Once...

    New Design & Development: Feats

It's not the name "Golden Wyvern" that is the worst part. Although IMO it's awful. I don't like the idea of wizard schools if they are going to be in game organizations. I bought Complete Champion and hated most of the PrC's that were in there. Most were tied to some organization that I...
