Do you build NPCs to live or to die?

I build my NPC's so that they are part of an interesting web of relationships with wants, needs and desires which will intersect with the PC's at some point in time. Of course, if putting together combat stats for them I try to make them an interesting challenge rather than a minmax'd twink.

    Arcane Power- Wizards Stretched Thin

You can be granted saves before the start of your next turn and thereby avooid the ongoing damage entirely.

Forked Thread: The Luke Skywalker Paradox

Lukes player seems like a classic author stance player. He would be more than welcome at my table. :)

P1 King of the Trollhaunt Warrens - Fantastic!

I haven't run either of them yet but I am planning on stealing a bunch of stuff from P2 to use in my home game. P2 is an excellent module which I would highly recommend.

That is remarkably unenlightening. I predict the flames will continue. Which is unfortunate.

Forked Thread: Ryan Dancey - D&D in a Death Spiral (Keep it Real)

With apologies for the tangent but Scott given that we have you here could I ask that you get someone to feed the Wizards website server hamsters. The recent controversy seems to be hammering your website making it rather difficult to access the DDI content which is a bit frustrating.

Interview time - what do you want to ask WotC about their new pdf policy?

While not about the pdf policy I would like to know if they will ever provide a printer friendly version of Dragon and Dungeon for DDI subscribers. While I like their artwork its murder on my printer and I far prefer to have a physical copy at the table.

WotC puts a stop to online sales of PDFs

I wasn't aware that I and my group of disposable income rich thirty something players had been fired. Shouldn't we get a P45 or something?

    PDFS--Of the WotC Court Case

No, no it isn't. The STANDARD of proof is balance of probabilities as opposed to beyond reasonable doubt. The BURDEN refers to who is required to prove the particular issue.

    Indie mechanics in "Traditional" games?

I do something similar in 4e skill challenges. Player success gives them narration rights, failure gives them to me. It works well for us but we are very used to indie stuff.

Was V's act evil? (Probable spoilers!)

definately on the bad guy scale. Killing this here Black Dragon which is trying to eat my family, definately a good thing. Killing any old Black Dragon which might be lurking in some swamp, probably a good thing if its eating the locals. If not leave it alone, havent you people seen...

Watchmen have brought *real* role-playing to D&D

And then we come full circle with certain segments of the "old school" crowd claiming that such things are not "real" roleplaying. LotFP: RPG: Role-Playing is not...

Floating Powers (Was: WoTC March 2009 Editorial Calendar)

If you do decide to go down this route can I please aslk that we see some more powers which feed directly into the skill challenge system. We have a few already but they are few and far between.

Floating Powers (Was: WoTC March 2009 Editorial Calendar)

Personally I think one of the benefits of such floating powers would be to allow characters to move more outside of their core role. You may not be keen on that but the extent to which classes are limited by role has been a fairly common complaint about 4e and one of those which has a degree of...
