Cincinnati (Fairfield) OH AD&D 2E Group Restarting

My group has taken a year off of the game and are restarting soon. We'd love to have a few more 30+ year old players for a return to the days of 2E. Contact me through ENWorld and I'll get back with you prompty.

World's Largest Dungeon in actual play [Spoilers!]

The negatives: at higher levels it highlighted some flaws of 3.5 (over-powered spells, long high-level combats due to so much math and buffs) The positive: each region could live and breathe (not region N...undead lol) if you were willing to put the extra effort in.

    D&D 5E I Love D&D Next, But ...

If they can think of a way for someone to be able to access the file while not online, doesn't force them to jump through DRM hoops, is as quick and easily usable as a PDF, and doesn't make them feel treated like a thief then maybe people won't have a problem using non-PDF's. Until then people...

Another choice I can't get behind WotC.

    Forgotten Realms 5E News

The grey box set I loved. Subsequent campaign setting books for FR were gradually less interesting to me. Returning FR to something akin to the grey books would be a huge step in the right direction IMO.

    I feel like ****

Kicking out players is never fun. I've had to do it before and have been sick to my stomach each time. One guy was a great person, but his issues began to wear on me and others. We'd love to have his company, but we just couldn't game with him. I sent him a very long e-mail that I type out...

What to do about the 15-minute work day?

Simple mechanic that seems to not get used much anymore: If the party rests in an unsafe place, roll for random encounters which interrupts their rest. Though the length of combats certainly can make that distasteful in recent editions.

    Confidence in WotC

I've watched D&D get worse and worse from the moment Hasbro bought WotC. No confidence at all.

If WotC deliver on all their promises...

So long as Hasbro is calling any shots, I'm done with it. If two years after its release and the people whose opinions i trust say it's an amazing game, then I might look into it.

What are your gaming stuff mishaps?

Cardboard box + flooded basement = Lots of AD&D 1E & BECMI stuff lost.

D&D 5E Ideal DNDNext Digital Support

Don't treat us like criminals, treat us like customers. Therefore any over the top DRM should be killed. You want my money? Earn it.

Can I run D&D as a DM with the DMG and MM?

There is no requirement what-so-ever for you to buy anything beyond the first 3 books to run a game. Heck, if you learn certain things well enough you can put your modules on 2-4 sheets of paper and not need anything more.

What if feats had no direction combat application?

If feats effectively only affected non-combat situations then a large portion of the gaming community wouldn't bother even picking them while others would scream their PC's personalities are being confined to what feats they picked.

Review of Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale by Atari

A term for running away, then stopping and shooting until the monster catches up to you, then run away some more. Repeat until one of you is dead.

    Kung Fu Panda 2

It looked pretty good to me. And I was up close (free previews will do that).

    Kung Fu Panda 2

I was able to see it with my twins on a preview last Saturday. It was much better than I expected it to be (being a sequel and all).

How to be an internet stalker?

Your brother is much nicer about it than I would be. I hope things work out for the best (even if that means a divorce). I believe everyone is thinking about a "Crime of Passion" defense. It usually involves discovering your spouse in bed with another and you "snap". The attack has to happen...

    Apparently, previous editions of D&D...

My wife is an occupational therapist specializing in hands. On more than a few occasions a simple "freaked out cat bite" can sever tendons. While potentially less deadly than an infection, it will probably require surgery and rehab to fix (or almost fix).

How often do you tweak monsters?

I tweak monsters all the time. One thing I've done to make dragons usable is 1/2 their hp and give them an extra action each turn. Then there's the standard 4E modifications per the book. They work relatively well, though adding a class to a monster can be a bit time consuming.
