FR: Players Guide to Faerun is out what do you think?

This answers one of my questions. Thanks! The thing I am still wondering about is whether it is permitted to take both a regional feat and a racial feat at level one. Is the rule that you can only take one regional feat, or that you can only take one feat that is level-one-only?

FR: Players Guide to Faerun is out what do you think?

The racial feats I had in mind are from Races of Faerun. Presumably those have not been completely done away with by PGTF. Or am I wrong? And by the way, what is the name of that all-martial-weapon-proficiency" feat?

FR: Players Guide to Faerun is out what do you think?

That quote is from weeks ago, but I have a question on that matter. Can you take a regional feat and a racial feat at first level? And another question: what is name of the feat that gives proficiency in all martial weapons?

FR: Players Guide to Faerun is out what do you think?

I don't have the FRCS. (I thought it was too expensive, but I have still been considering buying it.) So, do I now have to buy TWO books if I want up-to-date basic information on the Realms?? It sounds like FRCS has been out-moded, but it is still necessary because the new book doesn't give...

    Monks in Forgotten Realms??

Are there monks (martial artists) in Forgotten Realms? I've heard about a group of monks that are obsessed with studying and revering death, and there was that other group called the Monks of Candlekeep, but as far as I am aware neither of these groups has anything to do with the martial arts...

What's the object of the game?

The "difficult-but-possible" principle is the tricky part. To a degree, one can depend on this being achieved if the encounters are matched to the party's level. On the other hand, however, there is a lot that depends on the judgment of the DM. A DM can easily make things too hard (without...

What's the object of the game?

I have not posted since I originally started this thread, though I have enjoyed the contributions very much. Quite stimulating. S'mon's summary of the three approaches helps me to reformulate my original question and also to take a position on the matter. One of my fundamental questions can...

What's the object of the game?

A lot of players are quite serious about making sure every experience point is earned and that encounters are balanced. But on the other hand, there is so much left to DM discretion that it's all rather arbitrary isn't it? Especially if you take into consideration that the DM can easily...

    D&D Miniatures... buying a case?

If you want the low-budget case, do what I did. Go to your local craft/sewing store and look for one of the little plastic cases they sell. They typically have about 20 little compartments (probably designed for holding buttons, I suppose) that are perfectly sized for miniatures. Then you'll...

    Magical Staffs

AAAH! It all becomes clear! How did I miss that? Thanks for your help.

    Magical Staffs

In the DMG, it says that when staffs are made, they have 50 charges. How is it then that in the descriptions of particular staffs, they often only have five or six charges, total? Obviously I'm reading something wrong, because the price of the items is commensurate with a 50 charge item. Can...

Multiple natural attacks and additional attacks for high BAB

That's very helpful, gentlemen. A slightly different question: if I have TWF, does that have any application to natural attacks?

Multiple natural attacks and additional attacks for high BAB

Let's say I am playing a character with natural attacks, e.g. a wildshaped druid or a lycanthrope. In full-attack mode, I get more than one attack even at low levels (at least, in the case of many animals). Now, in my normal human form I eventually acquire additional attacks when my BAB gets...

    Can I use a two-bladed sword as a longsword?

If a character comes into posession of a two-bladed sword but does not have the exotic weapon proficiency feat, can he still use one blade of the sword as a single attack, essentially treating it like a longsword? The same question could be asked concerning the orc double axe. I've seen DMs...

More Options for new Base Classes

A samurai is so closely identified with the katana that to imagine him fighting with any other weapon is to imagine something that is not a samurai at all. Granting unarmed fighting skills is not a terrible idea, since it would not detract from the samurai's preference for the katana. On the...

Enhancing the Charisma Stat: A fortune mechanic

I like the general idea of luck being represented in the Charisma score. My personal approach would be not to equate the two, but to say that luck is one of the things represented by that score. More broadly speaking, I think of Charisma as the degree to which a character's presence influences...

    Raise dead (et al.) solution

Another way to restrict use of those spells is to make them available only to spellcasters devoted to a certain deity.

    Raise dead (et al.) solution

An easy way to do this would be to simply make a standard XP cost of say 2000 (or whatever, according to your wishes). I find that players complain less if I am just adjusting a cost rather than changing the actual spell.
