    Where did "Munchkin" come from?

Once again... very wry wit indeed! :D

Wizard or Sorcerer Spells as an Extension of Personality

When I was playing Zook Murnig (Gnome-at-Large) in a friend's campaign, he was a sorceror/rogue. I picked spells that revealed his love of bright lights. However, he was deemed ineffective by a few of the other players and things got sort of uncomfortable at the gaming table and I was forced to...

    Looking for fleshed out dungeons

Download the Ruins of Undermountain from WOTC's website. It's 2nd Ed. but you can't get much more fleshed out than that. I remember one room that has an orc in it...ONE orc and it gives his history and why he is in the room. Can't think of anything 3E... maybe Rappan Athuk if you want to go pick...

    Where did "Munchkin" come from?

I am delighted by the light-hearted and witty banter my question has elicited!

    Bastion of Lost Souls (Spoilers)

I am running the whole Adventure Path series and have been trying to tie them together a bit more. I have been assuming that the last module (judging by the cover I have seen and the other modules) would deal in some way with the dragon Ashardalon. However, now I see that it has something to do...

Quintessential Fighter/Arms & Armor/Sword & Fist: What books are you using?

I guess my point is that I am skeptical to begin with. Take Arms and Armor. For 25 bucks for a softcover not even 100 pages long, I am going to do LOTS of looking before I even think about buying it... which I won't do btw.

    And the rest is silence.

While this started out as a discussion about something roleplay related, all I can say now is... WOW. If I was a sociology major I could do a case study on this stuff.

    Where did "Munchkin" come from?

I have never been to Gary, Indiana and must ask what I would have seen if I had.

    Where did "Munchkin" come from?

AHHH! That makes sense! Thanks... I really have been wanting to ask for a while but there are alot of emotional issues with some of the posters here and I didn't want to get yelled at.:D Thanks.

Quintessential Fighter/Arms & Armor/Sword & Fist: What books are you using?

Why don't you folks preview the books before you purchase them? Most gaming stores just have the books sitting out on a shelf. I agree that if you spent $20 on Sword and Fist that you should try to use it if you can, but if so many people hate it, wouldn't it have been better just not to have...

    Where did "Munchkin" come from?

I assume it means "overly powerful" or something like that but where did the term come from, because a 25th level wizard just doesn't bring to my mind a tiny witch-fearing man with a squeaky voice and a desire to sing merrily.

The Oddest Thing You've Done As A DM When Running A Game

I was running a D&D session (typical medieval type setting) and apparently was in a strange mood because I had the characters end up on Darth Vader's Star Destroyer where the Dark Lord of the Sith told them that they were only fictional constructs of geekish minds. After ten years of DMing it is...

    Most useless Feat...

I voted for Run, since you can do a pretty good job of this without the Feat and I have never seen anyone take it.

Sneak Attacks in the Rogue Class, WHY?

No, D&D isn't just about combat, but many of the class abilities are, by necessity.

Sneak Attacks in the Rogue Class, WHY?

It is also a direct translation of the old Thief's backstab ability, which was essentially useless if you went by the rules. Remember, despite the supposed emphasis on Character, D&D 3E is very much a combat game and is geared toward a "return to the dungeon" as it were. Master of Heaven is...

Just when you thought it was safe to look at Fight Club...

I think that the 3E rules set is still a bit like a new sports car over at WOTC and they are just getting it out on the highway to see how fast it will go. I suspect that the Fight Club entries will always be a bit odd, but I think their purpose is to provide very tough COMBAT encounters (thus...

WoG timeline rollback suggestions (OK, is that better?)

The Real Issue Here Christian, I think your problem is the same one I have with FR and that is that you REALLY didn't want someone else to advance the plot of the world at ALL. I would be very happy with published matierial that was satisfied developing the world and its details without feeling...

Two last comments on Sean's rant

STOP! JEEZ! The rant is for game designers. All he is saying is use consistent terms in game products to avoid confusion. That's all. There is no need to pull out the OED.

    What's your favorite monster?

I had to vote for Fremlin because my best friend had an NPC called Frippy the Fremlin who really just showed up and tried to steal stuff from the PCs from time to time with less than successful tactics. But where is the best one of them all: THE WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING!?:D I mean, WOW what a...

    Sean Reynolds rant about terminology

A gaming buddy of mine always uses the term "Ogress" and I have to say that it is a bit creepy. Anyhow, Sean K. wrote what he did for exactly this sort of reaction. If you worked at a place with the turnover rate that WOTC has, what would YOU do to ensure that you remain the most talked about...
