As for stats they are covered in the Second Edition Forgotten Realms Heroes Lorebook. Cadderly, Danica, Ivan are covered in detail in that book. As far as third edition, I am not sure.

Toughness... I use it alot actually, especially at first level. I will take it twice sometimes if that a PC is supposed to be tougher than the rest. What is great though in that case is in the Netbook of Feats is a Feat called Improved Toughness. So you take the prerequisite Toughness +3...

If it is the new WotC arms and equipment, it is nothing special. there are a few new armor types, like Bark, and Coral. Some new weapons. I have had it since it came out and have not used it once. It was a bit disappointing when compared to the AD&D arms and equipment of second edition...
