    Flash Gordon

Just chiming in to add my disappointment. The problem that I see is that there is a distinct lack of Flash in Flash Gordon. Let's just call him Bob, because that's how interesting it is. I'm still watching it, hoping for something interesting, but during this past episode I fast-forwarded...

    New Playtest up...

I didn't see a confirmation of the gnome. We don't know what he ended up playing. And the warforged sounds like it is still being heavily developed. On the question of the sorcerer vs warlock...well this was a warlock, I think. Good information overall.

Do You Have A Campaign Website? Do You Use It?

I have two wikis at pbwiki.com. One is for the group where we post summaries, treasure, XP, backgrounds, and everyone keeps an up to date character sheet there. The other is my private DM page (password protected) where I keep the themes, build out npcs, design encounters, etc.

Do you think 6 months are enough for playtesting?

Bingo. 3e was a whole new game, new mechanics, new concepts. 4e is an evolved form of 3/3.5, so I'm not so sure as much playtesting is needed. Sure, they need to balance feats and spells, but the core mechanic should be fairly well set.

    D&D 4E Eberron and 4e...

It will be interesting to see how we will play the game considering it may be a year or more before we have answers to pretty massive questions like the racial abilities of warforged and gnomes (assuming they aren't in core), the skills of the artificer/magewright, or other similar common...

    Other possible power sources

    Could elemental be its own?

Are you worried about character conversion from 3.E-4.E?

Too soon to say. My current game has all core classes (bard, ranger, druid, rogue), so it may be possible to convert them. Then again, I'm tempted to just get to an early conclusion of the campaign and start fresh with the new rules.

"Some" traditional classes to get the axe - Which ones do you reckon?

Oooo...good thought. I'd bet so. It coincides with the rapid refresh (in other words, no refresh) of spellcasters.

"Some" traditional classes to get the axe - Which ones do you reckon?

That article also confirms tieflings as core races and mentions that some others will be ditched. I'd guess half-elves and either gnomes or halflings.

"Some" traditional classes to get the axe - Which ones do you reckon?

I'd bet barbarian goes (with rage as a feat or class option), along with monk or sorcerer...both of which could be built as core races using feats (improved unarmed attack chain for monks and a spontaneous casting chain/reserve feat chain for sorcerers).

    D&D Brand Manager of Fluff

I'm seeing this thread in a new light, considering the news. Rather than starting a humorous thread or maybe even seeing if there is any consensus on what new books to put out, it seems that Mr. Rouse was building a PR case for a new edition. The books mentioned are nice, but would not have...

    The big announcement: 4dventure

It's worth mentioning that one of the topics in the forum is OGL/D20, so I would guess that some form of the license is going to carry over into 4e. That's good news, at least.

Quick, check the calendar. Tell me it is March 31st!

Spell levels when able to access multiple lists

This question has come up with artificers and archivists, the two classes which are able to gain access to spells on a number of spell lists. If there is a spell that lies on different lists at different levels (ie Lesser Restoration, Paladin 1, Cleric 2), can the player use the lower level...

    Warmage versus Duskblade

Good advice across the board. Seeing how this DM's games rarely last too many levels (and we're starting at first) some of the higher level issues like needing fly aren't too big a deal. I'll be surprised if he sees 4th level.

    Warmage versus Duskblade

I am looking at maybe rolling up a new character for an upcoming game and I thought about doing a fighter/mage type. What is the general opinion of the two classes? Is one considerably better than the other? Thanks!

    Maps!

Being a weak artist, I tend to take an existing map and alter it to suit my needs. For instance I needed one for my Eberron game recently, which is taking place in the Lhazaar Principalities. I started doing an image search on google for island maps until i found one I liked, then I altered it...

    D&D Brand Manager of Fluff

A few that come quickly to mind (sorry for the obvious Eberron-fanboy-ism) Eberron: Nine Nations (opposed to Five Nations) - detailing the Demon Wastes, Shadow Marches, Drooam, Zilargo, Mror Holds, Valenar, Talentia, Q'barra, and the Principalities. Eberron: Secrets of the Dhakanni - detailing...

Stormwrack: The Case of the Irrelevant Crew

Perhaps you could just do circumstance bonuses... Assign a minimum crew size for a ship and a basic sailor skill required (2, 4, whatever). If the crew < required -2 penalty to captain's checks If the crew doesn't have the required skills -2 to captain's checks If the crew exceeds the...

Did anyone here come into gaming *through* computers?

I came back because of computers, does that count? I played back in the jr. high/high school days but hadn't played in over 10 years. Then I found Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter Nights and those got me interested in the games again to the point where I asked a guy I knew if I could join his...
