Has everybody stopped watching Smallville? (SPOILERS)

The writers seem desperate to get him to say that twice an episode.

LOST - bad season, or terrible season?

Uh...seriously? Phenomenal season and very, very good episode, IMO. Different strokes, different folks.

Ok what are all these adventures!?

44 MSOL1 Blizzard Pass David Cook 1983 This was my go-to adventure for new players for years. I don't remember all of the details but you could either self-DM the adventure with invisible ink or run it with a DM. I remember it had trogs...but not much else. 58 CM1 Test of the Warlords Douglas...

Has everybody stopped watching Smallville? (SPOILERS)

Agreed, some of the episodes HAVE been good. The first John Corbin one was solid. The first Checkmate episode was cool and even had some of the better action scenes in the series. One thing I've always laughed about though, for all the time they spend in the hospital, I've noticed two things...

    Kick-Ass

I'm a very casual comic fan and don't know any of the personalities involved. What's the story with Millar and what did he do wrong?

    Kick-Ass

It is hyper-violent, social-destructive, and morally wrong. And I loved every minute of it. 9/10.

Has everybody stopped watching Smallville? (SPOILERS)

I still watch it out of a bad habit, but you are right on that the quality is pretty horrible. How many motives/secret organizations/sides is Tess on now? Does she subscribe to the Plot of the Week newsletter or something? The guy who plays Zod is a horrible, scene-chewing mess. I don't want...

    Percy Jackson Novels...any good?

I haven't seen the recent movie, but the trailer made for a fun idea. Are the 5 books in the series worth reading? I normally go for darker stuff, but I also have enjoyed the Harry Potter books, so I don't mind something lighter. What do you think?

    Designing a trap-filled tower

I'm hoping to get some ideas to help fill out a lair that my PCs will be trying to get through on Friday. Here is the relevant background info: Pathfinder system 5 PCs, all are 3rd level Wizard, cleric, rogue, bard, druid (note no heavy fighters) Location is Sharn in Eberron These guys are...

    Thoughts on a magic item?

Desperate Defense Armband Aura moderate conjuration; CL 10th Slot wrists; Price 4,000 gp ; Weight 1 lb. DESCRIPTION This dull iron bracer has a few overlapping leaves that, as an immediate action, expand in a crazy unfolding motion to cover the wearer in a suit of masterwork mithril...

Players: Does anyone else not mind railroading?

It depends on how it is done...carrot or stick. Carrot - you can do anything you want, but I'm going to toss out hints to the easiest, most obvious things. Stick - you are hear-by unallowed to do anything but what I have written down on my flowchart. If you are meant to be captured, then the...

    Two questions

I think that's a fine idea...as long as you balance the costs. In 3.5 an Adamantine weapon (masterwork) would be 3,300gp. A +4 weapon is 32,300gp! The game is balanced with treasure rewards tied in to the challenge of the combats, so giving a +4 weapon (adamantine) to a 4th level guy would...

    Two questions

    1) It is a general rule that a +1, +2, etc weapon is magically enchanted. A masterwork weapon is +1 to hit, but not damage. Once you move to +1 or more to both hit and damage, that requires magic. I hope that answers your question. 2) Everyone runs their game differently. What I would do is...

Irrevocable death? Or do you allow resurrection?

I voted for "Sometimes," but it hasn't actually happened in my games. I've had probably 6 or 8 PC deaths in the past few years and generally they have been of low level or happened in such a way that raising the dead is impractical if not impossible. For instance, if they party can't do it...

DM: What kind of (D&D) campaign do you feel like PLAYING?

That's a campaign that I'm doing right now, but it's very tough. The prep time is way more than I've experience before. Trying to figure out complex plots that make sense, motivations that are reasonable, and a few surprises along the way. I think it is working out well, but it is pretty tough...

DM: What kind of (D&D) campaign do you feel like PLAYING?

Noir themed game - urban based where everyone has an agenda and no one is innocent. Cops are corrupt, death is swift, and women are deadly. Social skills come first, but you have to be ready for a fight when it breaks out. Military "A-Team" game - they are the special forces of a nation at war...

Looking for magic items with 'quirks'

An idea that I read off a blog and am currently trying to flesh out a bit... A bloodthirsty short sword. It looks rusty and nearly broken. Functions as a -1 weapon to hit and damage. Once it tastes blood, however, it shifts to a +1 weapon. The next hit is does it becomes a +2 weapon. So on...

"Kick Down the Door" Poll for DM's

I sure do. I often have hit teams at the ready for a slow night. There is nothing that gets the group refocused like an assassins attempt at a death attack, or just the old call for INITIATIVE! Usually I even know who sent them. Sometimes, though, I'll let the players figure that out for me.

    "Great session"? Wait, I'm confused...

The best compliment I got was when after the game the players stood around and talked about how much they hated an NPC. Real venom, hatred...and it wasn't at all directed at me. That made me smile.

Have you had any fun intros to a campaign.

I had one that was a good bit of work but I think it went well. Through email I had the players all start as 8-10 year old characters of the same fishing village. The village was attacked and we went through them fighting off and running away but they were all captured. Then, still through...
