    Complete Divine Errata

Spikes doesn't bother me. It's cool and all, but doesn't fundamentally change the way the game is played. It's a weapon booster, and somebody still has to use that weapon. Quill Blast is just ridiculous. To fix it, I think needs one major change and one minor change. The first is to remove...

    Fixing Resurrection and True Resurrection

There are a number of spells in the Miniatures Handbook and Complete Divine that fix this problem somewhat. They are castable in combat and immediately get the target up and running around again. They all have some sort of drawback. One of them, IIRC, requires that the target be dead no more...

    Free +6 weapon

You don't do damage if you don't hit, so load up on the regular old enhancement bonuses. For the minotaur, something like +5 elf bane adamantine greatsword. The cleric can get a +4 ghost touch undead bane heavy mace (adamantine, ofc). Archers usually seem to have terrific attack roll bonuses...

    Ulimate Monk Armor....?

That's not a bug, it's a feature. Armor and shields are supposed to be the cheap and easy way to get AC.

    Ulimate Monk Armor....?

The standard cloak of displacement costs 50k and is useable 15 rounds per day, requiring an action to activate. To make a continuous cloak, the cost would be 120k by the formula (3rd level spell * 5th level caster * 2000gp * 4 for short duration), not cheap at all.

    Ulimate Monk Armor....?

If you really want to minmax this, the best way to do it is to figure out the incremental cost of each point of AC from any given source, budget a certain expenditure for AC, and calculate the best available AC for the budget. I'm going to operate on the assumption that you aren't cheesy enough...

    Help designing a lethal healer

Good choices. Strength and Sun give you good combat abilities. I also especially like the choice of Close Quarters Fighting as one of your feats. It's unusual, but a very strong feat, especially in a small party.

    Help designing a lethal healer

If you're playing 3.0 and have access to the various builder books, you can set up an offense/defense cleric to just mulch things. You do need one level of paladin in the mix, or fighter. You need martial weapon proficiency more than anything. But either the free feat from fighter or the save...

    Looking for a Magic Item

The darkvision thing is actually only 12000 in 3.5, following the standard spell effect formula of (spell level * caster level * 2000gp), with no adjustment for duration because darkvision is a 1hr/level spell. Both the formula section and the actual magic item description bear this out. Other...

Looking for an 8-9th lvl smackdown

Ok, try this one on for size. It may be completely incompatible with your campaign, of course. I don't know whether or not you or your DM consider the rogue class and sneak attacking to be fundamentally at odds with the paladin class. With the stats you've been given, you can cover up the...

    Looking for a Magic Item

Moonstone Mask, from Magic of Faerun (page 163). It's a 3.0 book, but other than changing the pricing some, should be fine. Gives +5 spot and listen, and darkvision as a bonus. Takes the same slot as a pair of lenses. 3.0 cost was 12k gold, but probably more in 3.5. For a much smaller...

The Liberation of Tenh (updated April 24)

Has it really been more than a month since we last heard from the liberators? I'm starting to go through withdrawal. We miss you (contact)!

    Monks and Mage-Killing

I have and they are. Many spells last all day at high levels, or with the right feats, or with permanency spells. Being a high level wizard is a dangerous business - you never know when somebody's going to come looking for you, or when you're going to find yourself in a situation when you need...

    In Hextor's Name (Completed 22 Oct 2004)

Curses, foiled again. That's what I get for posting without my books in front of me. Thanks Lela. I'll totter off now to think up some other solution to this problem.

    In Hextor's Name (Completed 22 Oct 2004)

If I had to guess, I'd say it was prismatic spray, sent to a random plane effect. That could hit a DC that high, it's reflex, and depending on your cosmology there would be about a 7% chance of ending up back on your own home plane. For somebody who can't yet plane shift, the other results are...

The Liberation of Tenh (updated April 24)

Classic! Perfect! We love you (contact)! And isn't is just wonderful to be really high level sometimes? Responses like this just make it all worth it. Keep up the good work man. Can't wait until we can see what this new sword can do, and all of Dabus' new powers and stuff. Thanks for...

The Liberation of Tenh (updated April 24)

Another fun post. What a waste of 5000 xp! :D Anyway, thanks for spoiling us with two updates, back to back, (contact). The Liberators story hour still rocks.

Hierophant - worth losing spell progression?

Out of 3 highish level clerics I've played or played with, we've got one who's straight cleric - he relies on turning. Another is mostly cleric, but went contemplative for a few levels. The third (the one I play) is a complete mutt. He completely sacrifices turning, picks up one level of...

Hierophant - worth losing spell progression?

To get a standard array of abilities, the Archmage loses a 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th level slot (5 total slots, 35 spell levels). The Heirophant loses a 4th, 5th, 6th, two 7th, three 8th, and five 9th (13 slots, 98 total spell levels). That would be all of the 9th level slots, and the...

Search and taking 20: the problem

It seems that a lot of the DMs around here don't consider skill points to be a resource. None of you complain when your PCs just take the hp damage from the trap and heal it up. Or make the save and ignore it. Why complain when they use skill points instead? Characters have a finite number...
