    PHB 3 Feat List

Also, we don't have the full text. It may not stack with the Avenger or Monk class features. I hope it does, but I suspect it doesn't, and it's intended as a buff for caster types. Though, personally, as a player, I prefer "boring yet effective" feats, as they don't clutter my decisionmaking...

    Stun is Fun

Agreed. I don't mind being stunned, and failing 3 saves in a row lets me kvetch about it. Being chain stunned, for no effort? Hell, no. Brad

    Specify attack method? How strict

No one shouted? That's rather darkly humorous. "Shhh, let's keep the fight quiet so we don't wake up our allies!" "...but he could contribute!" "Yeah, but he was real tired last night, I think he'd appreciate the sleep." Brad

Your FLGS and You - What's your take?

I've got several: Fantasy Forum: Okay, this doesn't really count, but it really was my first FLGS. They went out of business like 10 years ago after moving to a location that wasn't zoned for retail (and selling to someone who didn't know that). Ironically, that location I hear now is zoned...

Your FLGS and You - What's your take?

Heh. This one gaming store I go to sometimes, I had to use the bathroom, so I asked the clerk. I should've known from his expression that I was in for it. When I came out, he said, and I quote: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm only here on Sundays." They've gotten a lot better lately, though. Brad

    My Weird Cat

One of our yard cats learned to wait by the sliding-glass door onto the porch about dinnertime, and watched for us. If we came near the door, she'd rub up against it, since that would probably bring us out with leftovers. Her name? Dorie, short for Door-Rubbing Cat. Her daughter, once Dorie...

When you kill your monsters do you kill the boss one last?

Everything I know in life, I learned from playing Shadowrun. In regards to this, I follow the maxim, "Geek the mage first." This translates, basically, as "prioritize the target that is doing the most harm to you that will take the least effort to put down." While this typically means caster...

    Villainless Adventures

One of our old 3e Birthright sessions had a tomb of a powerful wizard as the object of the session. There were NO monsters in the tomb, only traps and puzzles. The first was digging out the several dozen feet of obsidian shards on top of the tomb. Now, there was no time pressure, so we...

I so want to use this in a campaign

There was a Viking coin found in a native trash heap, it'd had a hole drilled in it to apparently be worn on a leather cord. The only possible significant difference I can imagine from earlier contact is that the natives would've had more time to recover from the various diseases the Europeans...

Would you subscribe to DDI if it supported older editions?

And I don't even like Lemon Curry, but that's what I voted for. I can't ever see them doing a character builder for previous editions, as that'd be just too much effort for what's (to them) an unsupported product. Now, I do think they should make available PDFs of old supplements, adventures...

Why DON'T people like guns in D&D?

Why? Logically, why would magic suffer? It doesn't suffer with crossbows, which are as easy to use as firearms. Why is having a tiny hunk of lead hit you in the chest at high speed more traumatic than a sword thrust, a crossbow bolt, or a swung axe hitting you in the chest? 4th. And magic...

    Another Painful Oath question

Neat trick to use with Painful Oath and action point and radiant vulnerable types. First attack, don't use a radiant prayer, as Painful Oath will activate the vulnerability. Use a radiant prayer on the second attack, so you get the vulnerability again. Brad

Monk To Hit- I don't get it, weak?

Beyond anything else, assuming that no one else is fudging rolls to consistently hit the 13+ needed to hit many of these regularly, it sounds like the monk player is having astoundingly bad luck and possibly poor target selection. Brad

PHB3 Excerpts: what are you hankering for?

There was a nice article in Dragon for minotaurs. But yes, I'd like more. I would like to see the Str monk, and more on the runepriest. Brad

Monk To Hit- I don't get it, weak?

They can often attack Reflex, but that requires careful selection of powers. And attacking Will and Fort is even rarer for them. OTOH, with Piercing Strike and combat advantage, 90% of the time when I played a rogue I didn't need to bother with an encounter power, the 1-2 extra [W] dice didn't...

What should you be doing between turns?

It also depends on your role and what you do. The leader, controller, and defender have to pay more attention, in general, than the strikers do. On my avenger, I can sit off to the side and pipe up when it's my turn, listening while considering my next action. This frees up some table space...

Why DON'T people like guns in D&D?

That's one of the things I've noticed, too. The rules I've seen, it's either guns = useless or guns = magic wands of super-death that auto-kill anyone you shoot with them. Both are patently silly. If they were useless, we'd all be using swords and crossbows. And if they were magic wands of...

    Betty Ross: Tyler vs Connely

I thought Jennifer Connelly was more believable as a scientist. Also, I think she's vastly hotter. Brad

Why DON'T people like guns in D&D?

We had a steampunkish Planescape game where guns up to repeating cartridge rifles were available. Amazingly, nobody used them. Why? They weren't worth the effort after like 4th level. The characters I remember were either strength-types (my kensei anthro-tiger or the Dr00dzilla) or casters...
