Tracking debuffs and conditions w/poker chips

I like it, and I actually think it would work best in combination with the condition cards - cards for players, chips for monsters. Could even coordinate the colors with the condition cards so that the players would know at a glance what any given monster was afflicted by.

Another MV preview: Hurly Burly brothers

They strike me as a perfect threat to throw at a mid-heroic group. Let the brothers maul them a bit, so that when they come back in late-heroic or early-paragon they can feel that much more powerful. They may not be as well done as the other previews we've seen, but they certainly have their uses.

Dungeon 190 - Force of Nature - Pretty good!

Yeah. Totally agree that the Kalidnay article was awesome, too.

    Elemental Hero' Handbook

I'd hazard a guess that we see a few more genasi variants in this one. Maybe some support for the githzerai, if the book is to the Elemental Chaos what HoS was to the Shadowfell. Hopefully better though.

    Force of Nature

New adventure is up. Seems pretty interesting, though to be totally honest it seems like it would "fit" better as a paragon adventure rather than late heroic. Yuan-ti and archfey just don't strike me as ideal opponents for level 9-11, and other tiers need the support more to begin with.

Eye on Dark Sun Article - New Artifact

Really like this. Perfect article to expand the Dark Sun setting, lots of great fluff.

    Looking for some campaign assistance

I'd go with "Lay Brethren", for my part. It recognizes their involvement with the order without granting them all the secrets and knowledge thereof.

    Cleric changes explained (Podcast)

It was a poor choice of words on my part, but basically irrelevant to the larger point anyways. If they were looking for classes to nerf, the cleric should have been much lower on the list.

    Cleric changes explained (Podcast)

I don't think the actual errata is the problem so much as the fact that the cleric is where WoTC chose to start this process. There's a sound argument that the cleric needed some work, but that same argument applies much more to a number of other classes, particularly the warlord (since we're in...

    Heroes of Unlikely Places (Hopefully?)

While I think D&D on the whole could benefit from a bit of Asian and African influence, I doubt this is the way to go about it.

    Psionics

There aren't a lot of options to do so. At heroic, the Noble Adept theme will add one. A Manifester weapon effectively adds one as well. Psionic paragon paths will grant you extras (which is actually annoying, because it means you're effectively limited to those if you want access to your...

Threats to Nentir Vale: Fell Court

I like these guys on a level beyond "I can really piss off my OAssassin with that". They're flavorful and easy to reskin into another campaign. I've got the PCs in my Dark Sun game about to deal with some tieflings, and changing Smoke Form into Sand Form (arguably unnecessary, but I'm using the...

Just got The Shadowfell: Gloomwrought and Beyond

I'm using the Grey as a major part of my storyline, actually, though I likely won't be sending my players through it. It's the barrier between Athas and the Far Realm, in my campaign.

Just got The Shadowfell: Gloomwrought and Beyond

For what it's worth, the Grey is basically the Shadowfell, and in Dark Sun it's much larger than in most other settings (while the Feywild is correspondingly smaller). It's also apparently the main barrier between the world and the Astral Sea, so having a bunch of characters trying to find their...

    Heroes of the Feywild Speculation

I hope they take the opportunity to provide some support for the classic Seeker, rather than just releasing an essentialized version and calling it done (ala the Executioner).

Why are thrown weapons so underwhelming?

Pila were longer and heavier than the standard javelin, which the Romans called veruta. Veruta were used by skirmishers, pila by the hastati and principes. I broadly agree with you, just couldn't resist, given the sarcasm at work in the post I replied to.

Why are thrown weapons so underwhelming?

On the contrary, the pilum (plural pila) was a significant improvement over the javelins used by skirmishers.

    Line of sight rule?

Total concealment (-5 penalty to attack rolls), at least. Picking a square at random (via a dice roll) plus total concealment, most likely.

    Rule of Three: 05/16/2011

A shame, because that would have worked nicely as well. Basically anything would be better than what they did with vampires.

    Rule of Three: 05/16/2011

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of monster classes to begin with. You want to play a werewolf? Catch moon frenzy and rp it. Or, make it a theme. That would work beautifully.
