D&D 5E The Race Docket: What Races do you want to see first for 5e?

The point is that it is much easier to say e.g. playable goblins have a bonus to thievery, or playable pixies are childlike and happily dancing, than to assign those qualities to human subraces. Such a simple distinction as to make one subrace more martial and another more magical, may be seen...

D&D 5E The Race Docket: What Races do you want to see first for 5e?

For example, if you give a subrace a bonus to thievery, you touch upon some racial slurs...

D&D 5E The Race Docket: What Races do you want to see first for 5e?

The problem with human subraces is that if you make them too distinct, with game-affecting modifiers, you may run into allegations of racism and racial stereotyping. Various human cultures, as opposed to subraces, feels like something for a setting book.

D&D 5E The Race Docket: What Races do you want to see first for 5e?

I'd really, really love to see catfolk, merfolk, some kind of non-foul non-evil harpy variant, centaurs, kitsune, satyrs, and other similar species with a mythological touch being brought into the official material at some point.

    Specialist Rogue

Well, it is why Bard kind of steals the show (pun intended!) when you are not interested in backstab... :D

    Specialist Rogue

I blame the hard divide between martial and magical; a rogue with a few magical trick up her sleeves would be lovely.

    Specialist Rogue

As usual, gamestyles and table conventions vary. One important thing you need when you are sneaking and scouting is Communcation. Now, in a world without radio, cellphones and headsets, you do have to get it from magic, so you have to lean on your friendly local magic-user for it, but a...

How often have you gamed in the past year?

Let's see: Playing Pathfinder regularly Wednesday evenings, "Skull and Shackles" AP. Playing "Action!" (http://hastur.net/wiki/Action) regularly Saturday afternoon and evenings, "Curse of the Crimson Throne" AP. GMing a very freeformish "Maid The RPG" regularly Sunday evenings, adventures...

    The Niche Protection Poll

Made you feel rather superflous as a leader in that game... "Oh, so want to heal me? Nah, I've already triggered a surge of my own with this power/item..." The fighter almost got killed in the final boss fight of the entire campaign, because I had so gotten out of the habit of using any heals...

    The Niche Protection Poll

On the other hand: When I think of a barroom brawl in a movie, there are always minor or major characters that do stuff like scrambling under the tables to avoid the fighting, or sit untouched in the corner and watch, cooly rescuing their drink just before the table is smashed to splinters in...

Pathfinder 1E So the question is... why is pathfinder selling so well?

Because those who do like it and dont see much problems with it just play it and don't hang around in internet forums to complain? :D Whenever one of the tech news sites publish some news about the iPhone, the comment section is filled with Android fans that speak loudly about the terrible...

What is the speed of a laden horse? (Strategic movement in D&D)

A genuine medieval sample, just for fun: The island of Gotland has just under 100 medieval churches, each the centerpoint of a small medieval community, in a total area of 3184 sq km. That gives an approximate average distance between them of 5.6 km, or 3.4 miles, if I've calculated correctly.

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

But reskinning used to such an absolute craze here on Enworld not that far ago... and it is easy to see how you can use it to solve the whole problem in one mighty Gordian Knot Chop! You just reskin a wizard build, and call it a "fighter" instead. All magical spells are re-labelled as daily...

Pathfinder 1E So what do you think is wrong with Pathfinder? Post your problems and we will fix it.

I play a Pathfinder Bard in our Skull&Shackles campaign. I've got enough Use Magic Device to be able to use just about any scroll I can buy - and our GM is very liberal with magic item purchases. And still I find that I use the skill every time instead of a spell on a scroll... Why? Simple -...

    D&D 5E Splitting your Move - The Move-Attack-Move Dynamic

This was one reason I felt like 4E combats dragged on forever when we did our test campaign, especially when minor and move actions became more complex, and involved both moves and attacks. People sat and tried planning out the optimal combo of minor-move-main-actionpoint actions to get an...

D&D 5E Are you happy with the Bard being a full spellcaster?

Speaking from my own experience in Starfox' Pathfinder campaign, now at 10th level, last session we played: Tumbling into the center of the melee, then using Greater Trip to fell four of the opponents surrounding the raging barbarian, thus providing her with four extra attacks at full...

New DM in need of help

The d20pfsrd is a great resource for Pathfinder games - easy too look up everything, errata and FAQ added, very very complete, and no irritating extraneous bulky graphics framing. This is really the wikipedia of PF gaming. It is a mainstay for our weekly PF game for both DM and players, together...
