    Thanks

An appropriate ending to a wonderful tale. Thanks for putting this together Doc! It's been a real treat, and I really appreciate you taking the time and care to put it here for us. Thanks to everyone in the campaign too. If it was half as memorable as it reads, you're very fortunate!

Pathfinder 1E [Paizo] Life's Bazaar Question (SPOILERS!)

** minor spoiler alert ** I had the same problem with my group. Once I flushed out some of the "empty" map areas (i.e. the tunnel on the last map that my group just /had/ to explore in search of the rest of the missing townsfolk), they were 5th level. At the time, I just figured that I must...

    D&D 3E/3.5 Permanent shape-shifting in 3.5

My sorcerer recently picked up a phylactery of change (Arms & Equipment Guide) that lets him polymorph into a single form and keep it as long as desired (can only change 1/day). It basically lasts until dispelled, which makes it extremely useful for travel or situations like this. The tough...

    Greater Shadow Evocation and Metamagics

Not sure I buy that. Do you only let a sorcerer mimic a spell that she knows how to cast? That she's seen before? What's the difference between a spell that's in the PH that she's never seen before, and a spell of the right level and effect that she's just made up? If you introduce a new...

Clerics and sacrificing a spell for a metamagic-ed cure.

Yes I believe this is legitimate, but it will take a full-round action (just like a sorcerer who applies a metamagic feat against a spontaneous spell).

Hold Person vs Boots of Flying

It all depends on how you interpret this. Is it: (a) the creature will force himself to stand perfectly still and take no actions. His body is perfectly fine, but his mind is forcing him to act a certain way, or (b) the creature is unable to move his body, as though paralyzed. He is free to...

    Why THAT change? (gnome bard)

I would be astounded if that wasn't changed in 3.5. With bardic music being revamped a bit, I'd expect their abilities to become level-based instead. Pure speculation of course, but what you're describing was one of the major loopholes in the 3e rules...

What do you think of the 3.5 spell changes?

Same here... I like the non-spell changes (barbarians, rangers, druids, bard), and think the racial changes will add lots of character (gnome). I think there were some obvious inbalances: haste was too potent for it's level, for example. I don't think some of the other changes were necessary...

[OT] Some Interesting Trivia: The Shot Glass

--die_kludge-- "Please to put a penny in an old man's hat"... ----- Ah, thanks, you triggered a memory. Here's the entire thing (or at least, that version of it). Christmas is coming, the geese are getting fat Please to put a penny in an old man's hat If you haven't a penny, a ha' penny will...

Is the Sorceror as bad as I think?

If you're replying to me: I never complained about class balance, or suggested that sorcerers are weak. I just happen to find the notion of "forcing equal distribution of treasure to keep the wizard in check" to be an unsatisfactory approach. Actually, as a DM, I have a sorcerer NPC that tags...

Is the Sorceror as bad as I think?

I dislike the notion of forcing character behavior to maintain game balance. Do you force players to divide treasure equally? Not a bad system, and it sounds like it works for you. That's great. My party does things differently. Again, should I force them to divide treasure differently to make...

Is the Sorceror as bad as I think?

Only if you play in a campaign where the party worries about splitting up treasure evenly, and each character spends "his own" money on items. We play a tightly-knit group, and pool our money. Items are purchased based on what would help the party the most. Inevitably, that means that the...

    Cheap Favorite Magic Items

Hewards handy haversack. Pull out scrolls, wands, potions as a free action. 2000 gp Cloak of resistance +1. 1000 gp Boots of striding and springing. Double movement. Still a bargain at 6000 gp (errata price) Wand of cure light wounds. 50 charges. 750 gp. Much cheaper than potions or scrolls.

Lil' help, with a cleric PrC dilemma.

Defenders of the Faith The Defenders of the Faith book has a number of really interesting PRCs that grant spellcasting abilities. A few immediately come to mind. - Contemplative: mystic, spiritually close to their deity. Some nifty abilities (immune to disease, lay on hands), +1/level...

The druid is not fighting!!! LONG!

Actually, the original poster indicated that the psychic warrior was blocking the drow from moving forward and engaging the wizard and druid. Retreating in that circumstance would mean backing up and giving the drow free reign to pound on the wizard... in this case the psychic warrior was...

If A Rogue Has The Ability To Use Any Magic Item...

Wow I would have agreed with 1e, and maybe 2e, but clerics are quite a bit more powerful in 3e. I played a cleric to semi-high levels in our last campaign who started with Air and Travel domains. He had the best buffs in the party, every miscellaneous spell imaginable, close to the highest...

D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5E] Will Warriors be on equal footing with casters?

Not to side-track too much, but that's the point of having "social" skills in the game. The fighter is certainly free to interact with NPCs, but he shouldn't be as effective as someone who's built up the skills. A bard with 30 ranks in Diplomacy should be much more likely to get a discount from...

When characters loot the bodies of other characters

I let the PCs do what they think is appropriate with the old items, and start the new PC with the suggested wealth for his level. Sure they have excessive money for a short period of time, but amazingly enough, most of the NPCs they defeat after that have less-then-optimal treasure lying...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [Dragon] #307 - 3.5 Changes: Some we know, some we don't...

I'm a little concerned as well. In current 3e rules, the only weakness that a fighter has compared to the rest of the party is his poor will saves. We've had a few fighters played with high wis scores and Iron Will - and they're basically unstoppable at low-mid levels. Those arguing that "save...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [Dragon] #307 - 3.5 Changes: Some we know, some we don't...

I also think that the new Hold Person will result in _more_ PC deaths than the old one. Under the old system, my NPC spellcasters would cheerfully ignore the Held fighter and concentrate on the still-moving PCs (after all, he wasn't a threat, and they could always take care of him afterwards...
