DDI Online Gametable - Reality or Myth?

And as it turns out, DDI was coded by a bunch of programmers.

What do we know about 'Revenge of the Giants'?

Plot- definitely not ground breaking (bad guys want to release an imprisoned big bad, and have to retrieve several artifacts to do it) but serviceable, IMO. Combat- yeah, there are a lot of combat encounters. You could (and I will, if I run it) leave many of them out without effecting the...

    Do you want PDFs?

Even as a 4e player, I bought (and would continue to buy) a lot of the out of print pdfs. I don't have any interest in pdfs of 4e books.

No love for DMG II !?!?

These days, the new D&D books are so thoroughly described by the people who get them early, there's not much left to talk about when the official release finally happens.

Why are certain monsters at certain tiers?

There's a 6th level solo vampire in the compendium (from the FR adventure, I think,) so even the designers feel free to disregard the template's level requirement.

Killing the d20-The Bell Curve roll

See also: Bell Curve Rolls :: d20srd.org (though some of the details are 3e specific.)

    DMG2 Excerpt: Companion Characters

I'm already using a monster stat block for an NPC traveling with the party. It'll be nice to have the tables for hitpoints/healing surges and level advancement.

    It's Dark Sun

Part of the appeal of Dark Sun was that it took standard D&D assumptions, and either twisted them into something new, or them this out. A 4e Darksun has a different set of starting assumptions than a 2e Darksun, and the Feywild is one of them. Twisting it into something new is just as valid an...

WFRP - THIRD Edition Announced from FFG

So why do you think neither are mentioned in the description of the game's content, or in the summary of how the mechanics work?

WFRP - THIRD Edition Announced from FFG

Is there any indication that the game uses either a board or miniatures? I don't see them mentioned anywhere.

    4E Campaign Announcement Time/Date

That's not what "everything is core" means. The different campaign settings are still completely separate settings, even though they use the same cosmological framework. The PHB gods do not exist in FR, for example (though some happen to have the same names.)

    Expanded Core new industry standard?

Yeah, core is a confusing word when applied to RPGs. It has too many possible meanings.

D&Di - Monster Builder Beta Launch Announced

Apple must be a pretty irresponsible company, then, they way they leave 90% of the market behind for so many of their software products :) But anyway, WotC still gets revenue from this Mac user. I installed Virtual Box and Windows 7 (both currently free) on my MacBook just to run the Monster...

Where does the Psion leave the Monk?

    I think you mean Tetsuo.

Do monsters/NPCs really need to roll any dice?

This sounds a lot like the "Players roll all the dice" variant in the 3e Unearthed Arcana. It's also online, here: Players Roll All The Dice :: d20srd.org

I'll never live long enough to experience all of 4e

Hi Hairfoot! You're in luck- what you're describing does exist. It's called a "role-playing game," and they come in many different styles and variations. Unfortunately, almost all of them provide mechanical options for implementing your character concept in the rules of the game. If you don't...

    Monster Alignment

How is this not the point? We're talking about 10 characters in a stat block, that have no effect on the monster's mechanics or it's description- let alone the description of the NPC you would be creating to use in your game.

HBO Rome 2 Octavian actor switch. Why?

Season 2 spans 13 years. It would have been really weird having the same kid playing Octavian by the end. (Not that any of the other characters age appropriately, of course.)

How to "capture" players using 4E rules?

I'd be very careful with this. You say that you don't want it to be railroading, but the fact that you've already decided the encounter's outcome ahead of time means that it is. Players tend to react badly having characters captured, especially if they feel like the deck was purposely stacked...

    Is PHB 2 really "Core?"

RPGs are guaranteed to cause confusion to completely new players, on several levels. New players are at least as smart as we are. We all figured it out, and so will they. If they can't, they probably don't want to be playing RPGs in the first place.
