    Pirates are industry's biggest customers

Why don't you just listen to samples on itunes or amazon, or watch videos on youtube? I find new music I like this way all the time. It works better than randomly downloading, because you can keep clicking on an ever-expanding web of related material.

Ryan Dancey - D&D in a Death Spiral

Still puts a big dent in the theory that the PHB2 selling out means 4e is doing bad.

Divorced from reality - RPGers & Corporate America

Are we still talking about the discontinuation of PDF sales, here? Do you really think that, or anything else WotC has done, rises to this level? We're talking about a hobby.

Ryan Dancey - D&D in a Death Spiral

He's been predicting the death of table top RPGs for quite a while now.

how many are using the new power cards

I doubt it. They always have character sheet packs and "official" dice, after all, even though both seem to be obviously pointless. I'm sure a market for power cards exists, it's just unlikely that anyone who posts on EN World is part of it.

    things i like/dislike about PHB2 - a sort of review

Problem is, 4e doesn't have celestials. This was the reason given in the article for why aasimars needed to be reworked.

    Does 4th edition hinder roleplaying?

Right- the player chose it. The character, meanwhile, had to wait for an opening.

    The 3.5 renaissance!

I doubt this. OD&D, BD&D, 1e and 2e all still have players, even through none we're open. The release of 5e will create a new generation of grognards who think that 4e was the last true edition of D&D.

Forked Thread: Why Ravenloft and 4E May Not Mesh

How is this different from Ravenloft's relationship to any other edition of D&D?

3.5 high level woes and Paizo's hand in it.

This logic makes it impossible to evaluate a published adventure at all, doesn't it? The DM can theoretically adjust any shortcoming of a module. But I don't blame Paizo, either. The fault is with the rules system. It's no surprise that the Pathfinder adventure paths all stop at 15th or 16th...

Are You Using the 4E Forgotten Realms as a Setting?

I'm using it. The campaign started in Westgate, but has since moved to Starmantle, where I'm running a modified version of Ruins of Adventure.

George RR Martin to his detractors

Ouch! I can't believe someone would email this to him. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Why don't monsters have power sources?

A power source comes from your class, not your race. So monsters don't usually have power sources because they don't usually have classes. A monster with a class template would have a power source.

Photos of the new Gnome (PHB2)

How quickly we forget! That's not nearly enough straps, spikes, or weapons to be a 3e gnome.

    Deities and Demigods: Bane

Didn't the Forgotten Realms steal Lolth from Greyhawk, and do almost exactly what you've described here?

Will the CPSIA harm the role playing games market?

Part of the problem is that the definition of a "children's" product is ridiculously broad: So an age stamp by the manufacturer isn't necessarily good enough. And what's with it going all the way up to 12, anyway? 12 years old is WAY past the "eat your toys" stage of life (I hope.)

1st lvl party vs. 3rd lvl black dragon. TPK?

I don't have the book with me, but isn't this the final encounter of Kobold Hall, in the DMG? It wasn't a TPK when I ran it, but the the battle took forever.

What the Dorruh are you doing to my Eberron?

They did not say this. They said that any book would have material useable in any D&D campaign (which has always been the case, even if not explicitly stated.) As always, it's up to the DM to decide what exists in a campaign.

What the Dorruh are you doing to my Eberron?

This has only been slighty been hinted at in the MotP- if you travel far enough in the Astral Sea, you might arrive at the Astral Dominions of other worlds. Comparing the FRCG and the MotP, though, it appears that each campaign setting uses it's own customized implementation of the World Axis...
