I don't have a particular *favorite* since I tend to use a lot of different ones for different circumstances. But I remember distinctly the best use of a single spell to kill an encounter that I've ever done: Prismatic Wall. - Because ships don't have brakes.

As a rule: Tool, NIN, Vast, and Perfect Circle. Add a few touches from Disturbed and Godhead and Stabbing Westward. (We would drive cross state lines to get to a Tool concert.)

Isn't that changing the campaign to fit your needs though? Making it non-canon material - making it custom - making it a house rule. And doesn't that - considering the debate going on right now - sort of negate the point? Last I checked this wasn't a debate on any *particular person's* house...
