    Man vs. Machine (d20)

Well, Modern20 has injuries as an optional rule, so we could include "vehicle damage" or whatever it's called as an optional rule for man vs. machine combat. I don't like to make such things integral however. They can be options for people who like them.

    Man vs. Machine (d20)

Well, my idea was to cleave as close to traditional OGL combat mechanics as possible, meaning no penalties as you lost HP. I just find traditional d20 combat to be very satisfying and to play very smoothly and that's one thing I'm trying to capture. As for where this will appear, I'm working on...

    Man vs. Machine (d20)

Out of curiosity, what about movement would you find unsatisfying?

    Man vs. Machine (d20)

The mecha and the starship rules both work that way. I always liked that, despite the occasional wonkiness, such as a nuclear missile's damage being 16d8.

    Man vs. Machine (d20)

Im confused as to which part you're referring to. Are you saying M&M does vehicles like Battletech? Or it does them like normal characters?

    Man vs. Machine (d20)

Well, I specifically don't want to get away from Hit Points, and I dont think I want hit points for specific hit locations, because that would run counter to the goal: I want fighting a tank to feel like fighting anything else. If the systems diverge too much, the familiarity goes away, which...

In contrast to the GSL, Ryan Dancey on OGL/D20 in WotC archives

And as a result of that realization, they adopted a new license (the GSL) much more like an Apple license than an IBM "open platform". I also disagree that the OGL movement didn't work on iterative design. There have been works based on other works, there's active support for Mutants and...

    Man vs. Machine (d20)

I almost titled this thread "Super-man vs. War-machine" but was afraid everyone would think it was some sort of Marvel vs. DC thing. Anyway, I've been giving a lot of thought to the classic "superhero fights a tank" thing. I never found these battles very satisfying, where a character fights a...

Final Fantasy XII sucks. Period. Fact.

I disagree completely. How is the story any less important to Vaan and Penelo, peasants living under the rule of a conquering power, than it is to Basch and Ashe, nobles living under a conquering power? What you have are Dalmascan peasants and Dalmascan nobles, along with two rogues, working...

FantasyGrounds Takes Legal Action Against WotC

And as Lorraine Williams will tell you, TSR *DOES* own all RPG dice. I see a second lawsuit coming down the pipe.

Final Fantasy XII sucks. Period. Fact.

See, I liked this. Vaan is a peasant kid caught up in the affairs of state. Of course the story wasn't about him. I liked that they didn't feel compelled to give him some enormous power mysterious power to save the day, or discover that he was a noble's illegitimate son or something cheap like...

What do 3rd-party publishers think of the GSL?

Looks perfectly acceptable to me. After all the comments made by Scott and others, it was just about 100% what I was expecting. My one quibble would be a desire to reprint monsters, at least in statblock form, for adventure purposes.

    4e D&D GSL Live

    Awesome. Thanks guys!
  16. Vigilance

    So, where is the GSL?!

I dont understand why the GSL needs to come dead last. First Wizards was waiting on the books, now it's waiting on the SRD, expandable ad infinitum apparently. If the license were released, that, along with the rules, would let 3rd party publishers (like the one I work for) actually decide...

    Best 5 books for True20?

Yeah PDF only for this title, unfortunately.

Final Fantasy XII sucks. Period. Fact.

I thought XII was quite enjoyable. But then, FF X is my favorite of the series, far superior to VII imo (I know, heresy).

    Best 5 books for True20?

The book has the post-apocalyptic styles we did for Wasteland Fury (for Darwin's World d20 Modern) and the Sci-Fi Styles we did for Cosmic Fury (d20 Future), as well as all the modern skill from Blood and Fists 1&2 that we did for modern campaigns (though obviously those would work for fantasy...
