    D&D 5E Style of Saves for 5e?

So my guess is at the core we will get something close to castle and crusades with many 3e and 4e "bolt on" rules. However I'm currious if we will go back to the 0-2e saves (in terms of labels, save vs wand etc. I dont expect we will go back to roll under), 3e saves, or 4e defenses and save...

Are people underestimating the desire to "come home"?

I think that for the retro players it will fall into two camps. 1. People who like Castles and Crusades but want D&D will move to 5e 2. People who insist on actual old mechanics will stay with their game. I see it more as a "If you liked some of the style and options of 0-2e but want a core...

D&D 5E What can D&D [next] learn from other games?

They could learn from White-Wolf that some people like their meta-plots and fluff, don't go blowing up their worlds.

    Standard/Move/Minor?

I would have 2 standard actions per round and no other types unless its considered a free/reaction type.

D&D lovers who hate Vancian magic

Vancian magic made my highschool group just avoid spellcasters. You may have a Paladin or a Ranger who eventually ended up with some spells but otherwise we avoided them. Later I played with people who actually enjoyed playing a wizard but with the exception of a beloved 3e cleric I still avoid...

    is Unity an impossiblity?

Depends on what you mean by unity. You can have the rules-lite and rules heavy people both enjoy D&D with a modular aproach but they wont be sitting at the same table but they will still buy the same books if the books contain the stuff they want.

    What Can Modularity Look Like?

IMHO The PHB first 50 pages - the basic game or OD&D with d20 rules, this is no skils, feats, powers, etc. Classes are Fighter, Theif, Cleric, Wizard, Dwarf, Elf, Halfling. rest of the book - modules classes - replaces the basic classes with typical race/class system skills - adds a skill...

Ability Scores - Should they increase?

    I would like an increase every 5 levels (rather than the four levels of 3e)and the actual bonus to be every +4 rather than every +2 and then cap the bonus for PCs at 21. 3 = -2 4-7 = -1 8-11 = 0 12-16 = +1 17-20 = +2 21+ = +3

Legends and Lore - What Can You Do?

Id rather see something like you can do 3 actions, some spells and attacks may take multiple actions. Moving takes one of your actions but you could also attack 3 times if you wanted or draw, load your crossbow and fire.

    Damage Systems in RPGs?

Personally I like wound modifiers, this is usually in systems with health levels like Savage Worlds, World of Darkness, and Shadowrun to name a few. I like systems where after I get hit I'm taking a penalty to my rolls cus it hurts.

    Good/New Fantasy RPG's

Heres a list of non d20 Fantasy games I have enjoyed. Some of these are out of print. Earthdawn (1e) Warhammer Fantasy (2e) Banestorm (GURPS) Hellfrost (Savage Worlds) Runequest Conan (GURPS) Desolation Burning Wheel Warhammer Fantasy (3e) Celtic Myth (GURPS) Middle Earth Roleplaying System...

    Can't live without them

Anytime we are not playing a published adventure the clerics and druids get left behind to an extreme sometimes of no spellcasters. For published adventures we make a balanced group.

Pathfinder 1E Is Paizo the new Palladium? (It isn't!)

Thats not exactly true, there were equal complaints about WW promising a new game and giving us a flavorless VtM. There were still Clans, Bloodlines and even the Ventrue and Bruja. The world was too different for some and not different enough for others making a rather vocal amount of fans angry...

    Tavern Fare

Sealing it was rather difficult IIRC but yes you can have it sit in a cool place for a good long while (well months, I don't think it would last years) if its sealed. I know salt and pitch were common sealants.

    D&D 3E/3.5 Best of 3.5: Books Edition

So its been along time since I compared the two but I remember GR fluff is better and give you more subraces IIRC and other variations. I may be wrong on that though. I dont have the Races of anymore.

    D&D 3E/3.5 Best of 3.5: Books Edition

Besides the 3 core we always use Tome of Horrors 1,2 & 3 from Necromancer Grimtooths Wurst from Necromancer The Green Ronin Race books PHB 2

Tier list for PF classes, or summary of each?

Yes, T3 because Barbarians are more the same than Fighters. Its not about fun its about versatility. The Fighter could be a Viking or a Centurion or a Knight, heck even a pit fighter. The Barbarian class means your going to get your rage on and I doubt your a Knight. The more generic your class...

Tier list for PF classes, or summary of each?

Thats not what I was saying at all. I was saying "those who give a bad name to the tier system" are usually people who started with 3e. That would be those who look at T1 as being the most powerful in combat, they aren't really groking the numbers at all because T1 is not about combat power...

Tier list for PF classes, or summary of each?

The wizard starts out weaker sure, and less versatile than a rogue, but when you start casting 3rd level spells you start catching up and eventually when 3rd level spells are weak you pull ahead, not in terms of raw damage but in terms of "Today I will memorize spells to be a rogue, tomorrow I...

Tier list for PF classes, or summary of each?

I think the tier system can be a useful tool for players and GMs to know what to expect from classes and be prepared to say give the monk and extra feat if it feels like that player isnt contributing much. I think its mostly used for powergaming and assuming a GM will allow some shinanigans...
