D&D 5E Lost Mine of Phandelver

Not much stands out about the dwarf driving the cart except for the large shield on his back and a battleaxe lying near him on the drivers seat. "Now Prophet, if you don't like my driving so much, maybe you should walk for a bit. Might do your legs some good.", Treygar says with a huge grin on...

D&D 5E Lost Mine of Phandelver (OOC)

added a little bit of Background story for Treygar. I'd like some ideas on how to tie his Outlander(bounty hunter) background into the module in some way--as I haven't come up with anything satisfactory.

D&D 5E Lost Mine of Phandelver (OOC)

I would be interested in playing. A martial type character--probably a dwarven barbarian.

    D&D 5E Barbarian Duel-Wielding

Two handed fighting will pump out the most damage, but it looks like to me that TWF is not that far behind. It does have some advantages as well. 1) AC is better after you take the TWF feat 2) You always get the bonus action to attack, except on the 1st turn of rage (once you get the feat, use...

    D&D 5E Level 8 TWF Barb/fighter

I'd go barbarian 5 (to get the feat at level 4 and an extra attack at level 5), then fighter 3 or 4, then the rest barbarian. I think going Fighter 4 is better, as it allows you to get all 5 feats/stat upgrades in. You do miss out on Barbarian 17 though--got to decide if that is worth losing...

Recent board games and what I thought [add your own capsule reviews]

Lots of good games mentioned here, but I'm sorta surprised that no one has mentioned 7 Wonders yet. Great game for 2-7 (8 with expansions) game that takes about 30-45 min to play no matter how many players you have. I have the game and all the expansions, and we often play a game before...

    [Playtest 2] Any Deaths?

Yea, it helped, as I did up some of the monster's attack scores--especially the elites. So, my players were hit more often than in other play tests. I did not give an across the board +2, but looked at each monster and gave them a bonus that 'felt' right, so some (fire beetles) got no bonus...

    [Playtest 2] Any Deaths?

Technically, we did have one death. The Wight multi-attacked the cleric, hit twice, rolled almost max damage (a 7 and a 8), and took her to negative numbers, only 4 from death. She made her 1st con save, but failed the 2nd and rolled a 6, technically killing her. But I gave the party a chance...

    Playtest Report

not bad. Monsters didn't live long enough (usually) for it to make a difference really, but the PC's moved a few times drawing Opportunity attacks. Tho, in reading it, I think I might have run it wrong--as the rules say when you are leaving the reach of a creature...so technically moving...

    Playtest Report

I think mastery helped a bit, and was noticed. I did rule that since it was a 3 person party, with 2 players focused on ranged, that the 'thug' ability would let him get advantage (and thus SA) if he could get into a flanking position. I would guess that he got sneak attack on about half of...

    Playtest Report

3 players, 1 dm (me) Rolled stats--mostly. 1) Each player starts with a 16 and an 8 2) roll 4 more stats (4d6 drop lowest) 3) If the highest of the 4 rolls was less than 16, replace it with the 16 (from 1) and re-roll 4) If the lowest of the 4 rolls was less than 8, replace it with the 8 (from...

    Bestiary

could it be that PC attacks are too high right now? instead of +2 to +4 for the 5 levels, it should be +0 to +3..hmm.

    Bestiary

Looking at the monsters in the Bestiary, I notice that they don't have any bonus to hit, except from Str/Dex I've also noticed that many people note that the Monsters don't hit very much at all...that they work alot like brutes from 4e in that they don't hit much, but hit hard when they do...

    Blingdenstone question

yep, just generic tunnel and cavern maps. There is a brief mention of them on the 1st page, in the "Preparation" section, next to last paragraph, last sentence.
