    LucasArts and BioWare Team Up

Let us not get ahead of ourselves. It could be anything. E.T., Willow, Raiders of the Lost Ark... Ewoks...

    PC, Xbox 360 or PS3?

(Disclaimer: I work for a company that has a 360 exclusive coming out soon.) The two big exclusives I've heard about for the PS3 are Lair and Heavenly Sword. Lair got mediocre reviews, while Heavenly Sword got pretty good reviews but was hurt by being considered too short at about 5-6 hours. I...

    EA buys Bioware (and Pandemic)

I dunno. Not publishing a major game since 2005 might have had something to do with it. BioWare needed a consistent publisher that wasn't going to tie the company to one platform exclusively (the 360, for example), and EA needed to build some cred as a company that puts out more than Madden...

    EA buys Bioware (and Pandemic)

It's true. It's happening. And it's okay, as far as I can tell (not from my own knowledge, which is tiny, but from the knowledge of managers I trust). No games are being canceled. No projects are being changed. This is just a way for BioWare to gain some security with respect to future...

I can't even imagine what that's like. Let us know if we can do anything. You're in my prayers.

Mass Effect - "the" Xbox360 title to get

I guess it's what you're raised on. I know people who have no trouble with things like Halo (or even Rainbow Six) on the Xbox. I am, frankly, pretty bad either way, so when I wasted a metric ton of ammo on a splicer in BioShock on the 360, I didn't think, "Man, I wish I was using a mouse," as...

Being safe as a woman jogger

No argument there. It depends on the school, but yes, there's a period where you're probably a bit worse off than you'd be if you knew nothing, because you know just enough to get yourself hurt. (In my school, you didn't get the past-white belt until you'd demonstrated an ability to do...

Being safe as a woman jogger

I think that it depends on what you're taking. Some martial arts (assuming karate is being used as martial-arts shorthand) are very pragmatic and focus on self-defense, while others focus on artistic expression or general fitness or tournament competition. The school I practiced at had classes...

    Chuck

Ooof. That was bad. I think I'm getting old or something. The presence of a radiantly beautiful Heather-Graham-style actress is no longer enough to do it for me. There has to be some kind of story or something in there somewhere. And I really disliked the gratuitous lingerie scenes. I'm as big...

Something funny happened in church yesterday . . .

I also work in the video games industry for a living, and I'm going to assume that you were attempting to be sarcastic. As others have said, I recommend balance in all things. I want my kid to be comfortable with computers, but I also want him to be comfortable with athletic activity. Rather...

    Check my Math

I'm running a siege game this Saturday in M&M, and I've got people with some big boom effects. We don't use minis, and I want to ensure that I'm letting their effects get about the right number of bad guys. 1) A heroine hovers in the air and throws down a Burst Area 10 blast into a crowd of bad...

    I'm (finally) a Dad!

Yep. That's about how it goes sometimes. If she's really not hungry, you may have a chance to earn husband points forever (and even help yourself out) by holding her up on your shoulder and walking around with her. I don't know if it's just the stimulation of seeing new things, or the motion of...

Help! White guy needs Japanese translation

RW: Thanks! Yeah, I won't be doing a full thick accent. He'll have a voice distinct from mine, but most of my bad guys do, just so the heroes know who's talking.

Help! White guy needs Japanese translation

PC: A 70-year-old ninja from a line of immortal warriors, living in the modern day. (They're immortal Highlander-style -- until someone kills them in a specific way.) Son of Emperor: A crazy-ass young man who has been living with aliens since his father, the emperor back in the 1400s, was...

Help! White guy needs Japanese translation

I'm running a game on Saturday in which an immortal ninja warrior is going to meet the son of the emperor the ninja clan once served. I want this to be a supremely cool moment. I'm quite happy having the son (who is now a crazy alien-implanted chi master making deals with necromancers -- um...

Mass Effect - "the" Xbox360 title to get

Jade was the last game I got to play with a clean palate. Everything after Jade is gonna be something that I've either had a hand in or at least heard the dirty laundry about. :) I liked it, but mileage is gonna vary for everyone. People who wanted a hardcore fighting game were disappointed...

    Baby - T-0 and Counting!

Congrats! While I can't wait to hear more, the fact that you have a baby, and you and Mom are both okay, is pretty much all that we absolutely have to know. :)

Mass Effect - "the" Xbox360 title to get

Oh, you can do that. :) There are at least a couple of places where "Shoot him" is a dialog option, and you can most definitely cut off some annoying ranting with a bullet to the face.
