    D&D Experience

I always wanted to attend Winter Fantasy when it was in Fort Wayne since I don't live too far from there. When I heard it was changed to D&D Experience it made me want to attend all the more, until I found out it moved to Virginia. With 4e coming out next year and D&D Experience being one of the...

D&D 4E FR 4E SPOILER - Grand Histoy of the Realms info

Are there anymore details about Ilmater? Hopefully he stays in as he's my favorite FR diety.

Pathfinder 1E Have you played or run Paizo's Adventure Paths?

I have read thru AoW and planned to run it once we started a new campaign. Before that happened STAP came out and I decided to run that instead. It's been a blast so far and my group just encountered the demonic Vanthus at the end of the last session on the Isle of Dread. I am not really looking...

    Benign Transposition questions

We used benign transposition for two main things during our last campaign. 1. To help the fighter types get full attacks. 2. To get the weaker PCs out of trouble by swapping them with the fighters. It worked very well for both. Combine this spell with the war weaver's abilities and it gets...

Gaming in the Military - Your Experiences?

I was introduced to DnD while in the USMC back in the mid 80's. I'd be on guard duty and these guys would be up all night gathered around a table playing this "game" without a board. At that point I was just annoyed that one of them wouldn't take my place on duty so I could sleep. They were...

Do you plan out your character's advancement in advance?

I generally choose a character concept and then plan out the character's levels/ feats/ etc according to the concept I've chosen. I will plan until I achieve the prestige class I am working towards (if any) and worry about the rest if I make it that far in the campaign

Conventions -- Why do you go?

I only attend Gen Con mainly each year. Meeting old friends and making new ones are fairly high on my list as reasons to go. Gaming is really secondary but I usually get dragged into some type of game I'd never play at home. Most of the time they are passable at best but every once in a while I...

Which adventures have had strong communities since 3E

The adventure paths from Dungeon magazine are supported really well over on the Paizo boards. I also ran RttToEE and visited Monte's boards on a daily basis when I was running it. I am currently running the STAP and the boards have helped out already and I am only in the third adventure. If you...

How to begin a war-based campaign?

We just finished up a "war" campaign of sorts and it was alot of fun. Our DM set us up as part of a mercenary organization that had some history behind it. We started the game at level 4 under the premise that we have been training with this organization for the past 2 or 3 years. Classes...

    DM Preparation

I try to involve the players as much as possible. We use the Combat Pad to track initiative which one of the players is responsible for running. I need to look up a rule, I assign a player to look it up for me while I continue to run the game (not always possible but it is more often then you'd...

Who Is Going To GenCon 2007?

I'll be there with some of the others from our regular group along with some others we met at GC a few years back that we meet up with each year. I look forward to seeing them (and meeting new friends) every year. It's always a great time.

    Help with wizard5/war weaver2

We had a war weaver in our last campaign and he rocked! He was a sorcerer that buffed the group and used the transposition line of spells to move the fighters around giving us many extra rounds of full attacks. Once he got celerity it was even worse. He was an swift and immediate action menace...

    Staggering Strike

In my experience this feat is very strong. We actually changed it because of my last PC. The character ended up with 8d6 sneak attack die, combined with craven, and one level of swordsage (for island of blades stance). Once I reached level 10-12 or so I was doing damage somewhere in the 40 to 50...

    Your own personal gaming terms...

The "paragraph"- a spell that has had multiple meta magic feats applied to it that a character uses regularly. "Yoink"- the sound the DM (NPC) made once the party's paladin shrunk his dire lion mount (in a 3e game) so that they could teleport away with it from a battle. The NPC's turn came up...

    Explaining Virtual Tabletops

I just started a Savage Tide campaign and use a projector as well. I decided to use Battlegrounds to project my maps and so far I have been very happy with it. I did check out Map Tool but liked BG better. IIRC Map Tool is a free program so for those on a tight budget it seems like a good...

    Who attends GenCon?

I've been going for the past 6 or 7 years. Just be prepared cause once you go you'll want to come back every year. It's a great time.

    Tabletop Aids

We use the large d6s we bought at Gen Con one year for "flight" dice. The number facing up is multiplied by 5' to see how high up in the air you are currently. If someone is so high they need too many d6s then we'll multiply by 10'. This has worked well for us, so well in fact we don't even use...

    A party without a healer

For our last campaign we tried using an NPC as the healer. We gave the NPC full XP so she wouldnt fall behind the rest of the party and gave her a share of items as well. It worked out well and we are going to continue doing this in the next campaign that starts next month.
