Ben Riggs: 'The Golden Age of TTRPGs is Dead'

IDK I think D&D has a problem (or a boost) that the market has become mainstreamed. This, IMO, has moved the core players to other systems to be away from the mainstreamers.

    New Playtest S6.2 RPG

I've added a police team into the pregenerated characters area. Detective Miles Fordham - a grizzled veteran detective with a sharp mind and a dry wit. Agent Anya Rodriguez - a dedicated and detail-oriented CSI agent. Dr. Evelyn Walsh: The Mind Behind the Madness - a brilliant criminal...

    New Playtest S6.2 RPG

This system boasts several innovations that set it apart from other d6 games: Skill Stacking: Characters aren't limited to a single skill level. As they gain experience, they build a diverse dice pool, specializing in various areas. This creates a sense of growth and mastery. Tag-based...

    New Playtest S6.2 RPG

Would the playtest be better if it was more ... "started" ... like if there were sample characters with skills and more of a world?

Just like in Numenera or Fate! Nice!

    Looking for something new

Hey everyone! I'm itching for a new RPG campaign, but the usual suspects are feeling a bit stale. We want something fresh and exciting, but without the headache of complex rules. I'm open to any system ideas, big or small, old or new, and I'd like to ease the players into the lore. Here's...

Playing RPGs via Slack or Discord Guide

Hey guys! I put together a guide for others who are interested in running a D&D or other game via the play-by-post style with Discord or Slack. Let me know what you think! https://simplednd.wordpress.com/2024/03/13/play-by-post-mechanics-for-discord-slack-a-how-to-guide/

Evil Monster Ancestries - Yay or Nay?

Assuming that they think and act like humans of course. After all, they aren't presented as a human variant, but an entirely different species.

Evil Monster Ancestries - Yay or Nay?

The world is a harsh tapestry woven with threads of violence and danger. In this unforgiving landscape, some creatures have become synonymous with brutality and destruction. Orcs, for example, are more than just ugly visages – they're the embodiment of chaos, their entire culture built on...

    List of Open Games

Yep enjoy it for personal use, but don't use it for making money off of other's ideas without having a discussion with the creator.

Evil Monster Ancestries - Yay or Nay?

I'm suggesting that, as we do not have different species in the real world, you could point to a group of humans who all identified a specific ideology as evil. The parallel could be drawn to goblins as they all worship Maglubiyet and therefore its ideology. Individuals are one thing, a group is...

Evil Monster Ancestries - Yay or Nay?

So faced with actual evil, you bail. Can't say I'm even surprised.

Evil Monster Ancestries - Yay or Nay?

Is it lazy to say Nazi's are evil? I'm sure there were some Nazi florists, but on the whole (lol) they were doing some pretty evil stuff.

Evil Monster Ancestries - Yay or Nay?

I wonder why you have so much invested in subject morals in a game with defined terms (and alignment). If the lore states that evil exists and that the race is driven by evil, as are the Drow, then why do you feel the need to justify your position based on the real world? It's a game after all...

Evil Monster Ancestries - Yay or Nay?

I think I've come to some clarity about why this turns me off in the context of the game world. The very idea of good vs evil has been thrown into question. No longer is the game about defeating a great evil, but rather about the players doing whatever they want and still having it be D&D. The...

D&D General Backstories: good, bad or whatever?

I get this. I think adding players later in the game is definitely doable, but I also think they would have a much harder time with the "ownership" or "buyin" of the party and their combined story.

Evil Monster Ancestries - Yay or Nay?

The world of CresthavenRPG brims with humanoids, elves, dwarves, and other familiar fantasy races. But something seems to be missing: monstrous options like goblins, orcs, or even demonkind! This begs the question: why aren’t evil monster ancestries a core part of CresthavenRPG? From the very...
