D&D 5E Druids and Bards Ain't No Different - Stephen Lawhead's Pendragon Cycle

I've been toying with a College of Nature for 5e Bard for a few days now. I loved the whole take on bard from 1st edition, that I felt it should be reflected in the class. Here's what I've come up with so far, and I'm definitely open to suggestions, thoughts, critiques, and mockeries. Bonus...

D&D 5E 5e's new gender policy - is it attracting new players?

You are decrying the fact that you feel as if you are being pushed out of a hobby you love while at the same time defending your right to not allow certain others to express themselves. This is honestly what I am reading, and I apologize if I have oversimplified your arguments.

    D&D 5E DMG or MM?

The information in the DMG is particularly useful for new DMs so I would suggest that.

D&D 5E 5e's new gender policy - is it attracting new players?

Not to split hairs, but Alien was originally scripted as a male lead through draft four. http://www.blastr.com/2013-7-30/8-female-sci-fi-roles-were-originally-supposed-be-played-men I don't know why I had to interject this, I just find it all terribly interesting. I've been a DM for 24 years...

D&D 5E The Sorcerer's Spells OR Do we want another magic class?

I've been playing around with the Sorcerer as of late and find it to be stunning. The base powers of the class are what makes it, with the archetypes just being flavor. I've even changed the Favored Soul to work more with the class' intentions: Chosen of the Gods At 1st level, you choose one...

New SCAG Info: Someone Got The Book

Thank you very much for all of the information you have provided thus far. Were there any new spells other then the cantrips, like possibly glitterdust?

D&D 5E How do you decide which Races to disallow (and/or Classes)?

I don't sweat the new or unusual races until someone is actually interested, then, from the point of view of "It's my world, it's my game, how best can I fit this race into my world, into my campaign and add to the mystery? I use it as an exercise into creation and world meddling. Already I have...

D&D 5E What awesome thing happened in your game recently?

My PCs discovered that one of their own had been betraying them to the Avatar of Shadows for the last six months. They were getting frustrated about feeling like their enemies were always a step ahead, and they finally figured out why. Of course, they were left trapped in an extraplanar vault as...

WotC shows its commitment to women gamers by removing the only woman on the team. I'm glad they're not sexist in their firings.

    A little PHB 2 info

To my mind, and the way I have always envisioned the classes is the the Druid would be a primal controller, Barbarian a primal defender, and Monk a Divine Striker. That is what makes the most sense to me. Which, of course means, I'll be sorely disappointed. :)

Please verify: you can threaten while unarmed.

I have not found anything in the rules to the contrary? However, unarmed does not mean "I just fired my bow and if I drop it, I'll be unarmed and can make opportunity attacks." I think some care should be taken there to stop abuse.

Skill challenge vs. acting it out

I find this extremely interesting, and completely contrary to my views. My belief is that excellent role-play should be more rewarded than anything that requires the mundane task of rolling a die. The drama that arises is just icing on a delicious and well-deserved experience point cake. As...

    Class Analysis: Cleric

Regarding your analysis of the 1st level Daily Power, Cascade of Light, you said: The vulnerability 5 is for your attacks, NOT radiant attacks, so I do not understand your reasoning, or rating on this power. Perhaps there is some errata out there that will counter this. This is especially...

D&D is dying by the hour

There is no possible way I could agree more with this. When reading the OPs statements, my first thought was that I was on a MMO board, where every patch would bring the same dire prediction of a horrific and eminent death of said MMO. This sort of doom and gloom scenario never takes into...

    Dark Sun, 4th Edition

Dark Sun, at the time of its release, was innovative and interesting, and of particular attraction to the younger crowd at the time. It was gritty and deadly, and that was why it was so well liked. But, I don't believe the same grit and appeal exists today, particularly due to the fact that a...
