D&D 5E With the reintroduction of PrCs which are on your 'must see' list?

Off the cuff, I second the "none" response, mostly because PrCs are pretty much power creep by definition, prerequisites notwithstanding. That said, if 5E can handle the PrCs as "deep cut" class concepts, it might work. I'm talking Warlord (Fighter PrC), Shaman (Cleric PrC), Warden (Druid PrC)...

D&D 5E Do Fighters Still Suck?

Troll thread? Fighters have never sucked. They're the long-haulers, the "I only need hit points" guys, the salt of the tabletop.

D&D 5E Serious gamers and new CR formula

Have to second this. The thread title is poorly worded, at best, inflammatory at worst. Brass tacks, people have been complaining about CR since 2000, and mostly because they're not using it right.

D&D 5E Who wrote these CRs?

This is pretty much the end of the argument, as far as I can see it. You're talking about a very low chance of this happening. The issue is not the CRs. In fact, I'm not even sure there's a problem here. 17th-level characters are the stuff of legend, after all.

    D&D 5E How many fans want a 5E Warden?

I don't think the concept is deep enough to warrant its own class. Maybe a sub of the druid.

D&D 5E If you use Group Initiative (like my group does), why do you use it?

Almost everyone in my group has a habit of trying to direct others on their turns, so I said "screw it, you all take the same turn at the same time now", and now they form strategies rather than arguments.

    D&D 5E Is stoneskin underpowered?

Taking half damage from anything that isn't magical/energy-based is a pretty solid buff. The material cost is there to prevent groups from auto-loading this spell onto the tank.

D&D 5E Starting Out of the Abyss at Higher Level

I'm actually starting a group at 9th in OotA. Their 1st-9th run was basically an undead campaign with ties to the drow and the Underdark. One of the PCs is a drow who "knows too much" about some top-secret drow biz, so there are already other drow agents kinda bounty-hunting him. Anyway, the...

D&D 5E Does anyone actually track rations?

Yes, I do. My big dream is to have a group of PCs starve to death over lack of hardtack.

D&D 5E Survivor 5e- What Core Class Needs to Go

I'd honestly get rid of half the classes if I had my druthers, but if I'm forced to ditch one, I'd have to ditch the warlock. Why? Because the warlock so easily usurps so many other classes and I'm only allowed to kick one. Warlocks cover clerics, druids, paladins, and sorcerers. None of those...

D&D 5E DMG's definition of "Deadly" is much less deadly than mine: Data Aggregation?

The DMG guidelines are fine, IMXP. You just need to utilize tactics and roll better than the PCs. Remember that a deadly encounter, according to the DMG, requires only tactics and quick thinking for the PCs to come through it. It doesn't mean that PCs are guaranteed to drop in such an...

    D&D 5E 5e EPIC MONSTER UPDATES

If you want, you can simulate Adam Warlock's trick with wish. Pretty much the point of that spell is to model anything that lesser magic can't handle. Beyond that, D&D isn't GURPS and it isn't M&M, so it's worth keeping in mind that twisting a dungeon-delver game into a super-hero game is bound...

    D&D 5E 5e EPIC MONSTER UPDATES

The MM already provides monsters up to 10 levels higher than PCs can ever reach in 5E... that's "epic" built right into the core monster math, right there. This all seems very... Krusty, which is enough reason to give one pause on its own. There are interesting concepts here, don't get me wrong...

OotS: At what stage of the monomyth?

First off, Campbell is not a hack. Get thee gone and take thy due place, Gene. Secondly, OotS doesn't, from what I've read, follow the Hero's Journey. It's just a comic about a D&D party, and while it gets wordy (too wordy) at times, it doesn't really reach outside of the context of the game to...

    5th Edition announced

On that I agree, hence my unwillingness to even quote the guy who feels otherwise. It's just not a matter of debate, really.

    5th Edition announced

Couldn't agree more. That would have alleviated a lot of my early gripe with 4E martial classes. The possibility of feats or "subclasses" affecting those modifiers is also enticing. As long as you included your typical transparent take on monster design and all that, yeah. I still have the...

Just use the last iteration of Ascension rules for 3.5. There's no mechanical difference between the two games.

    5th Edition announced

Hey hey, UK. Yeah, I heard about 5E through the grapevine and dropped into the first thread I saw. If I had more time at the moment, I'd have gone into more detail. There's just so much rigidity and bloat in 4E that I hope goes away. All true and, while I certainly snark you a bit for all...

    5th Edition announced

To be perfectly honest, the fact that the entire lifespan of 4th Edition will pass and Krust still won't have his immortals rules done... in no way surprises me. You missed the boat for 3rd Ed, and now 4th Ed. If they gave out pennies for missing deadlines, making empty promises and...
