RPG Evolution: How a RPG Changed the Star Wars Universe

I think devotion to the first two movies is the only constant among Star Wars fans.

RPG Evolution: How a RPG Changed the Star Wars Universe

The movie was on CBS in February 1984. We taped it, commercials and all. Its date is unmistakable, as there were news blurbs about the New Hampshire primaries during the broadcast.

    The Three Games Inside D&D

I'm sure it's in Peterson's book, but my gut guess is Ross Maker, who was always hanging around Dave back in the Nineties and went back to the old campaigns.

    The Three Games Inside D&D

Arneson disputed the importance of Chainmail. He said on his old website (it's archived) that he used it for a week when he first got it, but his players hated it so he came up with another way to handle combat. I think his game already predated Chainmail, so it was just another combat system to...

Can Wizards Avoid Another OGL Glut?

What on Oerth would make you think I hadn't read it? It was a minor issue, pumped up to be major one.

Can Wizards Avoid Another OGL Glut?

Any glut is a minor issue for consumers that will work itself out. A glut itself is a byproduct of a good thing: folks playing D&D.

Look On The Light Side Of Life (And Fantasy Gaming)

Word. He singles out GURPS, which is actually quite light in play. It's adding all the extra detail, like looking up specific modifiers for odd cases. If you have a need for world consistency (as I do in my dungeon fantasy game), you look them up, but if you don't (like my old space marine...

    Psionics Coming Soon To D&D?

Let me see ... Eldritch Wizardry, 1st edition AD&D, both systems for 2e, the original system for 3.0e, the Revised system was alright but it was mostly like just another spell caster, 4e worked the same as everything else in 4e so it really doesn't matter. I wonder just how many folks really use...

    Psionics Coming Soon To D&D?

Why do we need this? When did D&D psi rules ever work, anyways?

    D&D 3E/3.5 Player's Handbook 3.5 now available as a PDF

I wonder if Wizards has hit some internal goal for putting these in PDF, like selling out of the print run.

WotC's Nathan Stewart: "Story, Story, Story"; and IS D&D a Tabletop Game?

How many 5e players actually run the published adventures? I'm curious. Has Wizards taken a survey, or just done a comparison of sales? I'd rather have products that help me make my own adventures (NOT stories ... pre-plotting is bad). Not splat books, but rather game elements for adventures...

Look What ED GREENWOOOD Is Doing! Forgotten Realms: The Unofficial, Non-Canon, Unlicensed, Utterly U

You have to be joking about this one. Among the the NPCs were his players' PCs, which were no more or less interesting than any of ours, and his loathsome Mary Sue. None of the others were interesting enough to make up for including Elmunchkin and the Shadowdale gang.
