    Questions about alignment-themed outsiders

Ah, thanks Ripzerai. That clears up my confusion about how these outsiders worked.

    Questions about alignment-themed outsiders

What about the divine status of these outsiders? IIRC, Primus is a deity. Are any of the others as well?

    The Golden Rule - Plutocracy

How about a platocracy instead of a plutocracy I haven't read it, but I recall hearing something about this in Plato's Republic. Plato asserted that rulers ought to be always from the same class, a philosopher-king class. These philosopher-kings would be well educated and would be unable to...

    Using races differently from stereotypes

Thanks for all the replies so far, they're great! Drawmack, I especially like the idea of powerful kobold draconic priests.

    Using races differently from stereotypes

I was wondering how people used different races in their campaigns in unusual roles, unlike their stereotypes. For example, in my campaign goblins tend to be neutral, civilized and master watercrafters. Dragons may or may not be born sentient, otherwise they are stupid brutes. Giants tend...

    D&D 4E Will you buy 4e?

Me too. I won't judge anything until I actually know what it is.

    Who else dosn't like clerics?

I like the warrior-priest-ness of clerics, and their stark contrast to mages/sorcerors. However, I agree that healing should not be restricted to divine casters. I would like healing to be available to more classes; especially some sort of nonmagical healing for low-magic games.

    Geisha, the (missing) Asian Bard

One technical detail: in the .rtf, "Discrete Magic" should be "Discreet Magic" . Thanks for the cool class!

    What do you do for...Vampires?

I might have missed this part, but I don't remember it at all. Why would Dracula need to travel to England by boat then, and travel back to Transylvania in coach/train?

    Homebrew culture problem

You could play up the despotic/autocratic aspect of Renaissance Italy. It won't seem so elvish when you have analogues of cutthroat, powerful families like the Medici; you can also have the Machiavellis contributing to the literature tradition. You could also use mercenaries for most of the...

Making my game more "rogue friendly"

Maybe you could design fights so that rogues could use sneak attack? So, big rooms so that flanking would be easy to set up, and not having too many undead, constructs, etc...

The need for social skills in D&D

Mallus, I think this is a very good point, and DMs should at least consider it. For games that have at least some story focus and differences in player skill, it doesn't seem right that veteran players' characters do better because of their information asymmetry over newbie players. Maybe one...

The need for social skills in D&D

I agree that letting roleplaying having too much of a say for the outcomes of social situations can lead to certain people dominating. I think one's skill ranks/other stats should determine the quantitative aspects and roleplaying the qualitative ones. I do agree that just saying, "I bluff...

    Rewards Beyond Levels

mmadsen, All your ideas seem to be mechanical at heart. I don't know if that was specifically what you were looking for? As for me, I think one of the best rewards is when the characters can feel (and the players, vicariously) some kind of appreciation for the things they are doing, that...

What's your Bad Guy race like?

My preference is for mostly human-like, intelligent adversaries capable of guile. For example, the trolls in our setting are more fey-like than beasts; they are stealthy and tricky.
