    Programmers: please stand up!

I don't know; I've never used Dundjinni. But I do know that MapTool is very simple to learn, allows drag and drop, and lets you create nice-looking maps. Based on what you said you were looking for, it sounded like MapTool fits the bill. I don't know the power and features of Dundjinni for the...

    Programmers: please stand up!

Kzach - I'll once again recommend MapTool, then.

    Programmers: please stand up!

I personally draw my maps in MapTool. They might not be fancy, but they work for me. Some examples:

Descent Into Darkness: Free heroic tier adventure with maps

I'm pleased to announce that my third D&D adventure, Descent Into Darkness, is now available for free on my blog. It's formatted to be able to run for any heroic tier level you like - 2, 4, 6, 8 or 10. The plot: Someone - or something - has been stealing heirlooms of kingdoms that are actually...

A small preview of the new barbarian build in Heroes of the Feywild

I'm pretty sure they said that this class would be a defender most of the time and a striker when raging. However, the daily power they previewed isn't a rage, so I'm not quite sure what to make of it. My guess is that there's a class feature that allows the Barbarian to start raging, gives it...

House Rules in the Character Builder

This is the first I've heard of this. At a glance, it looks like there are now options to add extra powers and feats. Is that right? Is there any other house rule support? It looks like a step in the right direction!

Help me fill this Iron Tower with Fun!

If it helps, I wrote a tower adventure called Tallinn's Tower, which you can get for free on my blog. It wasn't made of iron, but there might be ideas you could use. The first floor had a "see through the illusion" encounter to get inside, and then a "find the sequence of runes" puzzle while...

NewbieDM's RPG Kids game profiled on CNN Geek Out Blog

This was pretty cool to see: Why role playing games are good for kids – GeekOut - CNN.com Blogs Congratulations, Enrique! It's a great profile. I'm always happy when I see RPGs portrayed positively in the media.

Which editions of D&D do you own the core books for?

3.0, 4th Edition, Essentials. I'm a relatively new player. I'd certainly like to pick up the older editions someday, too. I also own the Pathfinder Core Rulebook.

Legends and Lore: Preserving the Past

I can't XP delericho again, but I like the idea of "open source monsters" and "open source items" and so on. Add in the ability to rate these things as you use them or read them, and it becomes even easier to decide which should become "official". Yeah, I think this is a cool approach. I have...

D&D 4E Question on the Superior NAD feats and the math of 4e

I'm sure it's discussed somewhere, but here's my top-of-the-head analysis: Assume that the monster attack bonus vs. NADs is "right" at level 1. Monster math has their attacks getting better by 1 at each level. Thus, by level 30 the monsters will have gained +29 to their attacks relative to...

    Fantasy-izing Names

Fanny? I know it's a real-world name, but you never hear it any more. Of course, that makes a weird double double-entendre with both the first and the last name interpretable as words referring to a person's backside...

How long, in real time, would you expect a campaign from 1-30 to take?

I've been running War of the Burning Sky since July 2010, playing about once every 1.5 weeks for four hours per session. The PCs are just about to hit level 15. At this pace, I expect us to wrap things up just shy of three years.

DM Rewards: Hidden Shrine of Tamoachan

I know that it was specifically for DMs who ran sessions of the Neverwinter D&D Encounters during the month of August. I don't believe they've sent it out yet.

    Questions about DMing Gardmore Abbey

I'm getting ready to run it myself, and my characters are going to be a little higher-level than the adventure, too. I think bumping things up a couple of levels should work without much difficulty. I'd suggest taking a hard look at special enemies like elites and solos, as those tend to change...

So did your group win the War of the Burning Sky?

My group is about halfway through - just about to hit level 15. So far, so good! It's been a lot of fun.

Looking for a Maptool D&D Game

I don't have room for more players in my game right now, but I'd be happy to help you learn the software so that you can run a game of your own! There's some good information on my blog, and I'm always happy to answer questions.

    Gardmore Abbey art/maps?

I'll chime in as being very interested in this, too. I'm planning on running this adventure soon using MapTool, and I'd rather not have to re-draw all the maps by hand if I can avoid it. I did exactly that with Reavers of Harkenwold, only to discover later that WotC made those maps available on...

Rejection for DDI article isn't so bad

ppaladin123: Well, I agree - I think we should have lots of adventures that get the execution right, with cool combats and puzzles and exploration. But when it comes to pitching to Dungeon, they get so many submissions that they don't have time to check that stuff out, and they have to go by...
