Questions about DMing Gardmore Abbey

Locutus Zero

First Post
I plan on running some version of Gardmore Abbey in the near future. The deck of many things looks pretty interesting. So, in general, I'm just looking for any tips from folks that have run this adventure.

More specifically, I plan on leveling this adventure up for level 9 players. Can you foresee any problems with simply leveling up the stats on each of the enemies by 3 levels? I can go fairly off-book if need be, but ideally it'll just be a matter of modding some numbers.

I'm getting ready to run it myself, and my characters are going to be a little higher-level than the adventure, too. I think bumping things up a couple of levels should work without much difficulty. I'd suggest taking a hard look at special enemies like elites and solos, as those tend to change more as they change level (more interesting special abilities at higher level), but even if you just adjust the math you'll probably still have a good time.

I really wantto bump this adventure up a lot of levels, but have not had time to lookat it too much. I also moght place it at a different place, maybe near Neverwinter.

I am thinking level 16 is too much, and otoo much work, but I have not really looked though it clearly yet.

SPOILERS BELOW!

A level or two should work okay but one thing that needs mentioning is that the Deck of Many Things itself comes into play piecemeal during the adventure. That is to say that the characters (and villains) locate individual cards during the course of their time in Gardmore Abbey. These cards have special abilities of their own that are usable during encounters, quite often as attack powers. My point is that if you "level up" the adventure by more than a level or three, you would also have to take a look at the cards and probably level up their powers too.

I'm just beginning to prep this now, I'll be running it for a group of level 6 players once our current adventure ends. I'll post any notes I have as I go along
