    List of Essentials-styled products?

Though I justify my interest in softcovers as a completionist, your post makes me consider my lack of love for hardcovers. Even if hardcovers are more unwieldy to transport and use at the table, the difference is slight and complaint in practice, rare. And hardcovers presumably last longer. But...

    List of Essentials-styled products?

Thanks Scribble. I was under the impression the new Mordenkainen's book, for example, was a hardcover book. I didn't realize the Nentir wasn't a box set, but it still interests me as long as the book is softcover and it comes with counters.

    List of Essentials-styled products?

Thanks for replying. To be clear, I'm not referring to how content is written or presented as "Essentials," just that it is presented in small softcover books, or box sets with said books, floppy modules, and counter sets. I would love a list that helps me avoid hardcovers and track products...

    List of Essentials-styled products?

Has anyone made a complete list or release list that notes which products and future products are Essentials-styled? By that I mean books with the same small, softcover format, and box sets with similar softcover books, floppy modules and counter sets. I knew the upcoming Class Compendium was...

An idea for DMG 3 (make it happen, WotC!)

I agree that a step-by-step guide to improvisation would have limited use, but I'd love to see more DM emphasis on mechanical design philosophy, conveying why templates, powers, skills, feats, items, monsters, encounters are built the way they are, and sharing the methods the design team uses to...

    D&D 4E 4e Newb Combat Questions

Out of curiosity, if the save against the slowed condition failed, why wouldn't it be slowed when it becomes unconscious?

Move 6 then move 2 and hide without penalty?

I'm inexperienced with RAW arguments but want to participate for the sake of learning. Regarding double move, though PHB RAW states "you're taking a double move" when you perform consecutive move actions of the same type, isn't it true that since double move is not an action itself, it wouldn't...

    Red Box

I think it's a good purchase for inexperienced D&D players, even if an experienced D&D player is introducing the game to them. Being able to multiple-choice your way through a story to make a character is vastly less complicated than handling every option of character creation, and that it does...

D&D 4E [4E only] What kind of miniatures do you use, if any?

I went this route. Paper with sex appeal.

    Some Quick Questions

Newbie DM questions: Bull Rush, Charge, Grab, and Opportunity Attack are listed as powers in the Rules Compendium. Is there a tactical consideration (e.g., some other power that allows you to perform an At-Will Power on condition x) to this change? I'm not familiar enough with various player...

    Roll....initiative!!

I ran my first game as DM the other night. For initiative, I tried a suggestion I read to fold paper strips over the DM's screen with an indicator for each combatant, and loved it. Everyone sees where they are and it's easy to shift around. I just numbered each end of the strip (player-view...

Use New monster format for Character builder output

Credit goes to the thread masters. I presumed a monster-styled stat block would be too long with accurate power descriptions and I needed my stats, so I spent a lot of time formatting and attempting to cram power text into a brief line of shorthand that was still comprehensible in a long list of...

Use New monster format for Character builder output

A few people grabbed the zip file to look at it, if nothing else. For anyone that decides to play with it, I updated the file so it's easier to use. Not easy, per se, but easier. :P

Use New monster format for Character builder output

This thread inspired me to put together a "Character Block" for my wizard. It took some elbow grease but the results are pretty, and you're welcome to play around further with what I did. Word 2007 docs and PDF preview attached. The icon font I used was found on the forums...

    Litko paper counter stands

The Litko Stands are a bit pricey (because they are a test product?) but I was happy to find something (around my birthday!) with the convenience of paper that sacrifices little in sex appeal. Though not for everyone, being able to put beautiful artwork particular to new DDI content in good...

    Litko paper counter stands

I made the vid in the first post. In Word 2007, under the Page Layout tab is an Align button that lets you View Gridlines and adjust the Grid Settings. Just set everything to 1" and the shapes you draw will snap to them.
