    Which d20 books need writing?

Maps and maps and more maps. I am awful at drawing realistic castles, strongholds, cities, etc.

Cry Havoc or Fields of Blood?

I don't know anything about Eden Studios, not having purchased anything from them. I've got almost everything Malhavoc has done and they are top notch. Skip Williams is an "official" D&D author (you know what I mean...), so Cry Havoc seems like the natural choice. Someone convince me otherwise...

A new way to be wizardly

Is this intended for a low magic campaign? A first level wizard doesn't have many HP and is 50% or so likely to take damage when he casts (1st level spell, DC16, Spellcraft ranks max 4, Int likely to give +2 maybe +3). Why would a player choose this system?

    Amusing Type-os (no bashing!)

How about "Hey, don't lose those bowls" mistyped as "don't loose those bowels"? OK, it's not in any books that I own, but if you put enough monkeys on a typewriter... (and the loose/lose "issue" drives me utterly insane. Even worse than the ever popular rouge!)

Epic Level Handbook: Someone please explain Living Lightning to me

Maybe I'm just dense (heck, I know I'm dense), but I don't understand the spell Living Lightning. What is the benefit of a sentient lightning bolt? I don't see that it does more damage than the 3rd level spell... does it fire on its own many times in a day? Does it tell jokes? What does it...

New Feats addressing spellcaster multiclassing [OGL]

I like it. In my campaign all magic is "one" and these feats feed off that idea--if you know how to do magic (in whatever flavor) then you should at least know a little bit about the other flavors. Taking this feat makes you a master of the "oneness." If any of that makes sense to anyone I...

    Chaos vs Order

Forgive me for hijacking this and dragging philosophy in, but I just can't resist... Umbran wrote: Even if a person does it "just to hurt others," s/he is still doing it for a perceived good, perhaps just the (twisted) pleasure or personal satisfaction/gratification received by doing so. I...

    Chaos vs Order

Good and Light are the "dominant" ones. Evil is never for its own sake, it is always a lack of good or mistaken means chosen in pursuit of a (perceived) good. Example: the typical bad guy trying to take over the world, killing everyone that gets in his way, is pursuing the "good" of...

    Stupid question

Can a mage cast 2 spells a round normally? 1 for standard action, 1 for move action? If so, where is that stated? (and do you get a 5' step?) If not, why not? I don't feel like moving at all, shouldn't I be able to do more in a round?

Elements and their relation to ability scores.

Air - Dexterity Death - Intelligence Earth - Strength Fire - Charisma Life - Constitution Water - Wisdom Air and Dexterity seem to be a natural fit. Death and Intelligence was process of elimination... every rationale I come up with is contrived. Fire and Charisma just comes from the idea...

Elements of Magic errata and FAQ, 5-30-03

I just wanted to say I'm glad you guys are back and are working on this. I really like EoM and look forward to the revisions and new version.

"1/2 damage from physical attacks" ... half what?

Mummies (et al.) take half damage from physical attacks. Exactly what gets halved? Specific example: 18 STR fighter with a +1 great sword. He normally does 2d6+7 damage (+4 Str, +2 Str for 2-hand, +1 for the magic sword). Against a mummy, what gets cut in half? Just the 2d6? Or the +7...

    EOM... dead or alive?

Is there going to be an official FAQ or not? Is there going to be an EOM2 or not? I really like the product, but am anxious to see it clarified and shored up. I appreciate all of the work others have done to comment and provide clarifications, and I am using many of them, but I am one who...

    Prestige Weapons and Armor

Throwing Dice Games' latest "Tuesday Two Pager" has feats for powering up items, too. Haven't had a chance to read through it yet, so I can't offer any reviews.

    Elements of Magic Errata

Start spell lists at levels higher than 0. For example, some have complained about invisibility and fly at 1st level is overpowered. So make invisibility not available until 2nd level (to match the PHB), and delay fly until 3rd level. This can be extended to other lists as well... not making...

    Weapon Finesse with longsword?

Thanks to all of you for your responses. I've decided not to allow it. If the player wants to spend an exotic proficiency on the thinblade then so be it. That or go with the rapier.

    Weapon Finesse with longsword?

Convince me not to allow Weapon Finesse to work with a longsword. What's the downside? (and no posts about rule zero, please). I notice in Wheel of Time D20 that Weapon Finesse works with a Warder's Sword, which is a bastard sword equivalent (provided you can use it one-handed). Why allow...

    D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] New weapon materials & Double-weapons

The Enchiridion of Treasures and Objects d'Art by ST Cooley Publishing has rules for making objects with 2 subtances (called "Comingled"). The weapon gets full benefits of each component. I highly recommend the work: http://www.cooleys.org/publishing
