    BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: Season 2A Part 10; NSCR/9.23.2005. Mid-Season Ending

How do we know that Cain shot her XO? Her new XO said "Just kidding", and just because Tigh believes it doesn't mean it happened... right? Or is there other evidence I'm ignoring? (Like the fact that Cain is cold enough that the story sounds plausible) And what about Lucy Lawless? What's in...

Cities of Mystery and City System... what are they really?

I was browsing around on RPG Now and saw Cities of Mystery and City System. Both are focused on Waterdeep, but both also hint at generic guidelines for building cities. Does anyone have these? Can you expand on what's in them? How useful are they for someone who wants to map and create cities...

Is the Healer from MHB posted online like the Marshall?

I found the Marshall class on WOTC's site (thanks to a post here at EN World). I was wondering if the Healer was also? I'm not really into miniatures, and so don't want to buy the book, but I am interested in classes. (btw, is there enough in the MHB to warrant buying it if you don't "do"...

You are the head of a major network: Firefly vs the new Battlestar Galactica

Firefly. Hands down. BG is growing tiresome (in my lame Dieter voice). I could see how Firefly could wear out, if they continued the same trend as the existing episodes (self-contained 1-hour stories). But it would be very easy to do long-term stories (like BG does). Another Browncoat war...

    Dungeon Crawl Classics

"Are these dungeons created with in-game/scenario logic?" Yes. The ones I've read have a logical reason for why things are the way they are. Some are better than others, but all are good IMHO.

    Movies That Never Get Old

The Replacement Killers The Whole Nine Yards (don't give him mayonaise!)

    Loving Order of the Stick

I can't decide between Zogonia and OOTS. I think OOTS gets the nod. And call me crazy, but I never really liked Wormy.

    Watershed events in D&D campaigns

Mechanics-wise, Fighters getting to 6th level always seems like a big deal. Now moving and attacking costs you an extra attack, where before it did not. Instead of charging in, now they must consider staying put and letting the monsters come to them. Maybe I read more into it than is warranted...

What's Sci Fi Got that Fantasy Don't Got?

I would say it's the D&D is evil bit. I mean, c'mon, there are demons and devils right there in the MM!! And pentagrams and magic circles. And druids. And all sorts of bad things.

    Feat every level...

I saw that you give the extra feats to classed NPC's... but do you also give extra feats to regular-old monsters?

Your fantasy classics of the last 25 years

Was Lloyd Alexander's Book of Three (and the other books, culminating in The High King) written within the time limit? If so, add them to the list. Even though they were written for younger audiences, I still re-read them every few years. One of those "childhood defining" series for me. David...

    Question for PDF users

C... but I print all of the ones I buy. I hate reading long documents on screen. If it's more than 10 pages or so, it gets printed for reading. But I definitely enjoy having them in PDF form, for selective reprints (of maps or stats) and copy/paste.

Law and Chaos - the predictable and not so predictable

For those of you who do house rule alignment... how do you handle Detect Alignment spells, class restrictions, etc? The more I think about it (and ponder how I've played the game), we don't really pay much attention to alignment, and no one really uses those spells much. We just judge people...

Law and Chaos - the predictable and not so predictable

IMHO the difficulty with alignment is that the axes are reified. The outer planes are REAL embodiments of Law, Chaos, Good, and Evil. Evil is not a lack of Good, it has real, independent existence. In the same way Chaos is not lack of Law. Given this, the shades of gray and relative morality...

Balrog from Lord of the Rings (part 1)

Yeah... why bother giving him wings if he won't use them? Are they vestigial?

Combat Expertise, Fighting Defensively, Total Defense--combos

I don't think Total Defense means cowering behind your shield. It means devoting all of your combat ability to defense, not attacking, but rather focusing on deflecting incoming attacks. You've seen it in swashbuckling movies, where the "master" is toying with a lesser swordsman, making no...

Combat Expertise, Fighting Defensively, Total Defense--combos

Isn't a bit strange that you can get a better AC bonus making attacks than you can making none (i.e., that Expertise + Fighting Defensively is better than Total Defense)?

Combat Expertise, Fighting Defensively, Total Defense--combos

Could someone please explain how these 3 interact? Which can be combined and which cannnot?

The Liberation of Tenh (updated April 24)

(Contact) asked how I found this thread... from the "SH's you must read" thread on the RPG General Discussion. This is the first story hour I've read. And now I'm hooked. Working my way through Sepulchrave's at the moment. Look at all the goodness I've been missing!

The Liberation of Tenh (updated April 24)

If July 5 didn't work... how about August 5? I am new to this story, having read all of ToEE and LoT over the last 2 weeks. Awesome stuff! One question: how do you pronounce Dabus?
