Whisper of the Vampire's Blade [Eberron]

I understand your point Crothian - and a good DM must be prepared to flex a little to keep the players interested. I'm lucky that my players - recognising that I'm running a module - will try and co-operate in exploring the module. It's the quid pro quo for getting a game. :) The repetitiveness...

Whisper of the Vampire's Blade [Eberron]

I just wanted to say those a both very good ideas. As one of my PCs is a (distant) nephew to Baron Merrix, and another a Deneith heir who aspires to becoming an Inquisitive, I really want to make the mystery flow. Still the more ideas the better! :)

Whisper of the Vampire's Blade [Eberron]

Well, my group are now at the point where the next logical step in their Eberron adventure is Whispers. But I know that others have said that it doesn't feel like it fits into the general flow of the Forgotten Forge storyline. So has anyone done any work they'd care to share to fit the...

    Point Buy: how many BPs?

I'm with you Mercule. 28 points lets you build an interesting character, even allowing for MAD. I've seen a wide range of choices from quite lopsided characters with a couple of 8's, to almost even splits. Either way the player is fairly happy with the outcome. I've used 32 point once and I...

    D&D 4E Default setting for 4E?

Ting is, there is more the implied setting than just deities. There is quite a lot of cultural material embedded in the races - are all elves really skilled with longswords and longbows? Of course, much of this implied culture comes from Greyhawk, so logically Greyhawk becomes the default...

Elves and fluff, which elf do you prefer?

You are indeed thinking of the Blood Elves of the Blood Wood. When other peoples in the world retreated into underground citadels, or surrounded their cities with domes of elemental air and fire, the Queen of the Elves of the Wyrm Wood said that they were wrong, and that magic could be wrought...

Generic term for a type of god or spirit

Would the Roman term genius loci be appropriate? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genius_loci

    Animated Shields

And I'll add that I do the same. Animated shields undo the only major benefit of going the sword-and-board route: better AC. So in the interests of balancing play, they are ruled out in all the D&D games I run.

    Playing a warforged...

Note also that Adamantine Plating is treated as Heavy Armour, which will mess up several of your Ranger abilities. Either go for a heavier fighter-type, or perhaps switch to Mithral Plating.

spells you think are the wrong level

Me - I'd take another look at silence. It does double duty as a means to obviate Move Silent checks and as a way to shut down enemy spellcasters. Maybe they need breaking apart and reassigning.

I need a good word for type of monsters

I admit I quite like Dweomerlife Perhaps Spiritborn, since their existence is a function of an animating spirit? Or maybe pseudo-Latinise your original idea and make them Animatae. Then you can distinguish specific types by adding a descriptor, so Animata morta - a corporeal undead, etc.

    Questions for Everyone about Eberron.

Errrmm... Radovarl, no. Strictly when that little note was added at the start of the Eberron Campaign Sourcebook, it meant that if it was in the Core Rules, it had a place in Eberron. Generally that's extended to: if it exists in the rules, you can, if you wish, find a place for it in Eberron...

Can someone please tell me about Warlocks?

Yes, grappled Warlocks are pretty stuffed aside from trying to escape. Or invest in slippery armour.

    Bicycles in YOUR campaign setting!

No, I've never used them. But could the campaigns I play in withstand their introduction? Of course they could! :) The one thing I might do is change the name to help discard the baggage associated with them for players who get distracted by the notion. Perhaps I might called them wheeled...

    Evil Disguised as Good...

If you have access to the Eberron Campaign Sourcebook then a lot of what you need to do to get this effect is described. I would also point you to an early Dragonshard article here which also looks into this question. On the specific question of alignment, powerful clerics can be considered to...

Tome of Battle error I think

Fear not, you are neither alone nor mad! ;) The book echoes the same problem in the original Weapons of Legacy book in not making this point clear. I think the author suffered from the problem of already knowing the answer and this not being caught in editing. (Having put together a rulebook...

    Complete Champion

I am really hoping that this time round they include some material so that characters who don't join Divine classes can still manifest some aspects of their faith. It seems an obvious thing to do, and means we can avoid multiclassing to Cleric just to show 'holiness' (or its opposite).

New Excerpts - Tome of Battle & Dragons of Faerun

I would say that's the intent. He has a certain number of tools available to him and he can reuse them. But note that many manoeuvres look like they will be Swift or Immediate actions, so recovering the use of manoeuvres precludes using a manoeuvre that round. That's the sort of decision I like...
