D&D 4E 4E: The Biggest Changes in any D&D Edition Switch

Yes, I agree that this is a huge, huge change. For some people it is positive (better balance among the classes) and for others negative (reduced inter-class playstyle variety). Regardless of whether one loves it or hates it, however, it is a vast change.

    Pathfinder 1E pathfinder skill system

I like the 3.5E skill system, but the current Pathfinder Alpha skill rules are surely vastly superior to the SAGA system: Unlike SAGA, they at least they make it possible to be bad at a skill.

    Pathfinder 1E pathfinder skill system

The Pathfinder Alpha skill system is vastly preferable, in my mind, to the skill system of SW Saga or 4E, where it is impossible to be bad at a skill at higher levels. Indeed, in practice I almost always give both my PCs when I play and NPCs when I DM max ranks in their skills, so it works out...

GSL questions for Scott Rouse and Mike Lescault

I have probably* never bought a third party d20 or OGL product before and throughout the course of the 3.X edition, my RPG book purchases have been exclusively from Wizards of the Coast. As such, one would think that the presence or the absence of third party support for 4E should not concern...

WOTC undecided over OGL/GSL. Why you should care

GSL questions for Scott Rouse and Mike Lescault

I really doubt that WotC is seriously considering not including 'open' gaming in the 4th edition. Unless Orcus has some inside information, and I doubt that, there has been little evidence to suggest that apart from his own hunch. Now, I know that he has industry experience and all that, but a...

D&D 4E 4E: The Biggest Changes in any D&D Edition Switch

Personally, I do think that the changes announced for 4E are the biggest yet in both crunch and fluff.

D&D 4E 4E: The Biggest Changes in any D&D Edition Switch

4E is introducing major changes to D&D. I think that the scale of the changes involved is larger than in any previous D&D edition change in both lore and mechanics, but I have not played all the editions, so I cannot be sure. Consequently, I am wondering what other people think on the matter...

D&D 4E 4e Contest: Prove Nate Right - Power Attack Entry Finalists - You help decide winners

Variant A is nice and clean - I would need to test it or do a few calculations to see whether its balanced, but the simplicity of it is appealing. While we are at it, I might as well post my submission here, since the contest is over. Perhaps some people might find it useful or interesting...

Richard Baker on Orcus and Deity Slaying

Agreed! Demogorgon could/should have Orcus for breakfast!

    Pathfinder 1E Paizo Annoucement!

Has anybody made a PDF character sheet using these rules yet? If so, I would appreciate a download!

Pathfinder 1E PPP (Post Pathfinder Poll)

I was unsure about 4E and am unsure about the Pathfinder RPG, but due to lack of suitable options on the poll I voted that I am moving to the Pathfinder RPG. It will be easier to decide, once I read the whole rules document, though I must say the parts I have read so far look really good.

Raise Dead: A nice big bone to the simulationists

I have been using something similar (along with other modifications to resurrection/raising/...) as a houserule for a long time. In my campaign, only characters that have a destiny desirable to the deity doing the resurrecting can be raised.

D&D 4E What can change your opinion about 4E?

Just like for you, rituals, if well implemented and well-defined/not left to rule 0, could indeed make a difference for me, especially if coupled with several other things I would like to see.

Would you Swap 3.5e for Exalted?

Not a chance! 1) I like 3.5 edition D&D 2) The 'offer' is in poor taste 3) I have no interest in Exalted

    D&D 3E/3.5 Will you still play 3.5?

I will keep on being the DM of my 3.5E games, none of which will switch to 4E. After the existing campaigns finish, I will most likely start up further 3.5E games. Judging from the information available so far, I am not very keen on running a 4E game, but I would not have a problem playing a D&D...

Eadric et. al. (The Paladin and his Friends).

Sep, this is absolutely amazing! I am extremely impressed at how much thought you put into this. I take it the campaign will be staying with 3.5E, right? Even if prefer 4E, converting everything in this campaign to 4E would be nothing short of crazy.

Reason 'squares' is better than 'feet': the metric system

I am also a "metric man", but I still prefer the use of feet to the use of squares or meters. Feet have the archaic medieval quality to them that is appropriate to a D&D-like fantasy setting. This is not a big issue by any means, however, certainly it is nowhere near as bad a change as the new...

Pitch me your ulitmate D&D movie

Lady Despina's Virtue and its successor Story Hour threads are probably the best fantasy stories I have ever read bar none. It would be great if WotC could do something with them in the future. Perhaps a book would be in order. A film, however, probably requires a less sprawling storyline. I...
