    HP: how many per level?

We have full HP at 1st and 2nd, then 3/4ths (rounded down) each level beyond. Doesn't stop the game from being just as lethal to us. We end up losing, on average, one PC every 4 sessions or so and last session we had a TPK.

    Skirmish.. what the?

Well, where does the Rogue get his SA from? (And why can't fighters, who fight for a living, emulate it?) If it's the explanation, honestly, I find the boxing analogy more than good enough. A scout's opponent has no idea where, or when, the scout is going to be making her attack since the...

    Savage Species is Broken?

SS is sadly not 3.5 ready. Almost all of the 'Monster as Character' breakdowns use 3.0 monster abilities. Many monsters had major changes made to them between 3.0 and 3.5. A few of the breakdowns have been redone in books like the Planar Handbook, but for the most part, a lot of monsters from...

    Skirmish.. what the?

Yeah, but if the scout's moving, the scout is only getting one attack with the skirmish ability. So, honestly, what's the big deal? A rogue, who doesn't have to move, gets SA damage on each attack. The Scout, who does have to move, is only getting Skirmish on one attack.

Why the fear and hatred of Disjunction?

Even good PCs vary. A group of LG PCs might not care about having a 'communal wealth pot' or whatever, where they make sure the one PC who lost a lot gets something from the rest. But, Chaotic PCs, even good ones, care more about themselves than the group.

Why the fear and hatred of Disjunction?

True, yes. In the one campaign where I was playing a LE Wizard/Shadow Adept, she defintely made sure to work with the party for her survival. However, there's no *way* she would have given up 5k exp for the rest of the group, unless a lot of *her* items needed to be restored, or if the party...

That's interesting. Where is that in the book, please?

    SmokeSticks

The smokestick itself is consumed in one round, when it's creating the smoke. That prevents characters from making lots of smoke from just one smokestick. Basically, it's a one use item. The smoke that it's created, in the 10x10 area, stays around until it dissipates naturally, which in windy...

    Called Shots?

Sadly, the OP shows the one problem with any kind of 'called shot' system. When someone says "I want to make a called shot...", it's invariably followed up with "...to the head". It's one way the players are trying to circumvent the way HP works. Honestly, for any kind of 'called shot'...

The more I read the rules...

Well, you're also forgetting some of the other major rules in what you're describing (the Mounted Overrun), and those few sentances do *not* support your position for anything but hooves. The mounted overrun is also known as a Trample. So, the mount doesn't even *get* an attack unless it...

    Playable genderless races

Thri-Kreen probably aren't genderless, but.... if you're not a thri-kreen, how do you check?

    Longswords for Halflings in SRD?

No, I'm not going to rethink it. The toys are made for small creatures (children). The weapons fit comfortably in their hands. They're not made for 'Medium' creatures (adults), and therefore do not fit comfortably. Any 'small' culture is going to make weapons that fit comfortably in their...

Disable device - making it "more fun-er-er"

You can certainly take a 20 on a Search check to *find* the trap. You can't take a 20 on the Disable Device check to disarm it.

    Longswords for Halflings in SRD?

Go to a toystore and find those toy swords that are made for kids. As an adult, grip one. It will *not* fit comfortably in the hand. The grip is thinner, the pommel scrapes against the bottom of the hand because the grip is shorter, etc. All in all, it's not very comfortable to wield. It...

Mounted Combat and Full Attack With Bow

That's just such a bizarre ruling, since the rider and mount are moving together. I'm glad I don't play under such odd rulings as that.

    "Magic of Incarnum" Totemist Questions

While I think that the soulmelds and feats could technically allow that, the thing is that you only have two hands and one mouth. It makes sense that you can only make one claw attack per appendage, and one bite for a mouth, with one tail attack (for a belt). But, that's a nice thought for...

    "Magic of Incarnum" Totemist Questions

    1) Totemists have soulmelds that provide them with Natural Weapons. According to the natural weapon rules (especially as explained in MM4), would a 15th level Totemist (base attack +15/+10/+5 ignoring other bonuses) who melds Sphinx claws (giving each hand claws as natural weapons) have two...

Mounted combat - taking cover behind your mount

Mounted combat only allows you to substitute a ride check in place of AC for *one* attack, and that's why you use multiple attacks or attackers against a mount. (It's a DC 10 ride check to have your mount attack along with you, if nothing else.) That's not taking into account spells, actually...
