I just used the word "maelstrom" at lunch a couple days ago, and only the German guy didn't recognize it. I guess it's most familiar in "maelstrom of controversy," a favorite turn of phrase among journalists. I have noticed that many people incorrectly take it as a synonym for "storm" though.

I think all the ones at RPGArchive are free - must be a couple hundred for D&D anyway. As Mark noted, all the CDs are too. There's an undead-oriented one coming out soon, but it's more like 6th-7th level.
