    No Second Edition Love?

That's pretty much how I handled it as well, usually rolled under a Wisdom check.
  2. Prince of Happiness

    No Second Edition Love?

What did anybody do for checks in 2E that would be the equivalent of Spot checks?

Help me create a paladin's code checklist!

That must explain why I'm posting so much from work. :heh:

    The "orc baby" paladin problem

Hitler Card! Except that we're not talking about people. We're talking about monsters. Monsters in a fantasy world that can, at the DM's discretion, be hard-wired to be evil. Murderously evil, without fail. This is also assuming that every monster is "born" rather than spawned in some arcane...

Help me create a paladin's code checklist!

Get the doo-dad, then come back and mop the floor with bandits using the doo-dad. It's all Good.

How many of you came close to selling off your stuff?

I dumped almost all of my 2E collection with the exception of a couple modules, Al-Qadim stuff (man, that setting's Monstrous Compendium is hard to find!), and any Greyhawk stuff I can get my hands on. This meant that a LOT of FR stuff went bye-bye. Getting rid of the City of Splendors boxed...

It's exciting, it's new, it's non-f***ing existent! Make it stop! Make it stooooooop!

    The "orc baby" paladin problem

They probably chewed their way through a bunch of helpless broodmates upon hatching. If they're womb-born, hell, they might have killed their wombmate and chewed their way out.

    The "orc baby" paladin problem

A-F***in'-men. I would say that ultimately, Mr. Dustyboots, it's up to you to determine what is the nature of what makes these monsters so evil in your campaign. I dunno, these tadpoles are going to need food from somewhere and if scrags function in your campaign as some sort of caregivers, and...

    FFG - Recommendations

I thought their city building hard cover was really useful if I needed to put one together on the fly.

    No Second Edition Love?

Hmm, especially when you can make medicinal cheese (or cheeeeeese) from the Shining South supplement? Hmmm...

    No Second Edition Love?

Yeah, all the encumberance specifics were in the DMG (for 1E). I'm not sure if it was expected for the DM to go over each player's character sheet, add up the encumberance and then tell them their movement rates, or something. Back to 2E, I still can't get over non-weapon proficiencies. The...

What gameworld would you want to be in?

The one that I'm least likely to be eaten.

    No Second Edition Love?

My biggest regret from my 2E FR campaigns was that I did not use the available NPCs more often. I'm not talking about the big names, I'm talking about guys like "Flame" and that one Red Wizard lady who was around 5th, 6th level. Those guys.

Catalog of discussions on the "younger classics" adventures.

I thought Doom of Daggerdale was great. Looking back I would have beefed up or re-did some parts, but it worked out to be a lot of fun. Started my Wolfgang Baur geekness.
