What happens if I tweak the Paragon level

If it is a time issue why not just skip a few levels? There is nothing saying that you have to always start at level 1

    Skill Challenges that KILL

Indeed. With skill challenges though one character with a high skill should not be able to "solo" the challenge. Inbetween him rolling arcana the rest of the group should be making checks too. A well designed skill challenges with a good spread of minor and major skills (minor ones giving...

    Arcanist playtest

The thread search results don't really prove anything one way or another, as people who have no problem with the spell are not going to start threads saying that they think it is fine. Most of us in this thread agree that the current play test version needs tweaking. Personally I like it the...

re the fighter. That is just one class out of how many? Making a wizard paired with a fighter a good combo. Fighters being able to stop movement (if they hit) shouldn't influence the whole design of the zone mechanics. I'll re iterate, there has to be a valid choice for the creatures...

    Bring back alignments?

To answer your last 2 questions - No No What is stopping you playing a character that is a renegade, a rebel, someone who doesn't give a poop about the rules in the current system?

Quoting to lend my support to your side of the argument. I've been looking at Invokers recently (as my wizard has MC into one and is thinking of picking up a power swap feat). A lot of invoker zones do something on the enemy leaving the zone as well as the effect for staying in - this is how...

    Skill Challenges that KILL

Lethal skill challenges are certainly possible as long as they are handled with the same sort of approach combat encounters are designed. If the players realise they are in a lethal situation (in combat it is obvious, and their health/surges are usually lost over a period of time), then...

    Bladesinger Preview!

That is just fluff, there is nothing mechanically restricting the race. Even then the line says "almost without exception".

Spot on. In most cases leaving the zone is not a loss of any kind to the monster. If they do stick with the end of turn effects there needs to be an effect on leaving the zone, giving the enemy a choice to make other than not get effected and continue as though the zone is not there.

You can't enlarge dailies - it only works on encounters and at wills.

    Arcanist playtest

You are getting round and turn mixed up. A turn is per creature a round is one full cycle of initiative. With wall of fire you get pushed into the wall, you take damage, when your turn comes up you take damage, on someone elses turn you get pushed back in you take damage again. This is to stop...

Selective quote :) Cloud of daggers got changed to end of turn too. Makes this spell much worse now. I think fireburst not getting changed is an error, as they use that spell as an example in the intro :)

    Hitting one's self question

There are numerous powers that explicitly state that a create can attack it's self as part of the attack, so this would suggest to me that a vanilla melee attack cannot. You can however catch yourself in the burst of an area attack.

    "He's beyond my healing ability..."

This is how the DM in my regular 4e game runs it and it works perfectly well. For all those saying "use a different system, one that supports this style of game" - D&D supports this style of game if the DM and players are on the same wavelength.

    Tips for Spicing Up Combat

Magic ammo can be of any type, they are not limited by the name in the description. Magic ammo is also self limiting, in that using it replaces the enhancement bonus of the weapon, so as soon as you get a +2 weapon, using the now relatively cheap +1 versions comes at a cost. That said, the OP...

Rules Question - Give your opinion

Very good discussion here. I have to ask the OP though - how did you manage to get to level 23 without this coming up before? :)

    raise beast companion ritual

You are correct, you do not have to be trained in the skill related to a ritual in order to cast it. The only requirement to cast a ritual is that you have mastered it. Normally you need the ritual caster feat to be able to master a ritual, but many feats or class abilities let you master...

    D&D 4E The "We Can't Roleplay" in 4E Argument

Also there is nothing in the rules that assumes 1 session = 1 extended rest. this is a way a lot of groups run, but it does cause these sorts of problems. An extended rest should occur when the DM says it does, even if that is over multiples sessions/in game days.
